Eddie Vedder Releases Bruce Springsteen Cover Song For Haiti Relief
By Jeffrey HyattThat Eddie Vedder cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “My City of Ruins” is available now as a digital download through Pearl Jam’s Ten Club and iTunes for $.99. Proceeds from the sale of the track will go to benefit Artists for Peace and Justice Haiti Relief.
Vedder’s version finds him playing the song on acoustic guitar with the help of a gospel choir.
Vedder’s take on “My City of Ruins” was recorded at last year’s 32nd Annual Kennedy Center Honors; the annual event recognizes recipients for their lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts.
Spinner reports that Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy Foundation has pledged $200,000 to relief on the strength of personal donations from the band and its management.
In other Pearl Jam news, there’s a rumor the Seattle rockers might make their way to Donington for the Download Festival, which just announced their first slate of acts.
