American Idolhas always been known for dishing it out to their contestants, but last night’s guest judge Katy Perry definitely took the heartlessness to a new level. The pop singer began dishing out icy stares and zingers at a fast pace as the night went on, and not just to the contestants but the judges too!

The definite highlight of the show was when “American Idol” judge, Kara DioGuardi made a little poke at Katy’s song, “I Kissed a Girl” and Katy’s response was, “I’m going to have to throw my Coke in your face.”

Here are a few quotes and videos from Tuesday night’s show…

Telling Ryan Seacrest what type of judge she will be,

“I’ve always been a brutally honest type of gal…People are going to get the best advice that they need to hear.”

In response to Kara DioGuardi’s tough decision of whether to put a girl through to the next round,

“Don’t ever put someone through because you feel bad.”

In response to Kara DioGuardi’s decision to put contestant, Chris Golightly, through because of his mixture between talent and the fact that he has lived in over 25 foster homes since he was a baby,

“This is not a Lifetime movie…Everyone’s got an amazing story.”

I love the look on Katy Perry’s face, she appears disturbed that the contestants aren’t on all fours and grunting in the auditions. If we may point out, she isn’t necessarily an expert on voices nor the level of talent. She has put out one hit album and now she feels superior to these lowly “American Idol” contestants.

I’m sure they have a lot of terribly annoying and creepy people coming through, but that isn’t an excuse for being mean. That is part of being a good judge. Her ego needs to be taken down a few pegs.

Take a look at the video…

Do you think Katy Perry went over the line on last night’s show?

Who cares what Katy Perry thinks? Like she has any say about talent or star power.

totally agree; I wasn't a big fan of kissed a girl but LOVED waking up in Vegas but after watching her "performance" on Idol, I don't know; it was a real turn-off; clearly she was prodded by AI producers to behaver this way but she SHOULD have some of her own management whispering in her ear, "ah, Katy, hold back a little"; I honestly think she did a lot of damage to herself

A self indulgent spoiled brat. She must be feeling at the top of her game, but we all know that that never lasts. Can't wait to see the fall.

Katy is a self-involved and self-indulgent little snit. She doesn't have the education, training, experience, perceptiveness, character or charm of the other judges, who were amazingly tolerant of her.
She showed her true colors. She was clearly acting out against her evangelical parents' upbringing. She has bombed what little hope she had of furthering her career through appearing on AI and is beyond any damage control her publicist might conjure up. If nothing else, let's hope she's learned from this that being brutally honest isn't a commendable trait . Only Simon Cowell can carry it off with his dry humor and panache. Everyone knows much of it is for the sake of entertainment. We were not at all entertained by Katy's mean pettiness.

From what I've seen Katy Perry is grounded and honest. Nothing wrong with that. I like her as a judge. She has common sense and she's not going to sugar coat things and waste people's time. Good for her.
