Quincy Jones Re-records We Are The World for Haiti
By Seraphina L.Quincy Jones wants to help Haiti too, but he’s suggesting that musicians re-record the charity song, ‘We Are the World” which he originally made famous with Michael Jackson for USA For Africa in 1985. The 76-year-old music legend who produced Michael Jackson’s Off the Wall and Thriller says that he will be gathering musicians in a Los Angeles studio on Monday to redo the 25-year old hit song.
The original song written by both Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie features Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen and many others. However, Jones did not say who be on the new recording because he told the Associated Press that “We’ve got to make sure we’ve got who we’ve got.”
He’s hinted at rounding up a batch of new all-star musicians to feature this time around. It may work to his advantage since radio stations seem to enjoy playing charity re-dos with current pop stars. However successful it may be or not be, any profit going toward Haiti relief will be worth something.
What do you think of Quincy Jones re-recording “We Are the World” without Michael Jackson?

Michael would do it, so I think its great for Haiti and I bet it will sell lots because it will be like a tribute to Michael Jackson too.

Michael loved, trusted and admired Quincy as both a producer and friend. I am sure that Quincy will do a wonderful job with this re-make and Michael would be very proud to know that the song he had written was once again helping to save children. Michael said he wanted to be remembered for one thing (even more than music), HELPING CHILDREN.
We all know that if Michael was still with us he would be doing everything he could be help the people of Haiti, especially the children. This will be yet another thing that will honor his memory and further his legacy.
We love you Michael!!

It would be fitting if they keep Michael's part in the song – easy to do.

ONLY IF MICHAEL'S VOICE IS ON THE NEW RECORDING. Without Michael, it won't be the same and should not be done. It's like writing him out of history AND THE SONG HE WROTE AND MADE FAMOUS.

I hope they keep in Michael's voice, but it's his song anyway so it's a tribute to him for it to be rerecorded. However, the main objective is to raise money for Haiti so whether his voice is on the recording or not I hope it's successful.
