By Seraphina L.Sly Stone joins the hundreds of musicians who feel they have been cheated by a business partner. In this case, Stone the lead vocalist of Sly and the Family Stone is suing his former manager, Jerry Goldstein. The musician believes Goldstein has cheated Stone and his fellow musicians $20 – 30 million worth in royalties and used the money to gain an extravagant lifestyle.
According to Reuters, Goldenstein still has yet to make a comment, or rather, chooses not to comment.

Stone’s lawyer had made this statement to defend his client:
“…a dark side of the music business where some of these artists are being robbed of their intellectual property and the fruits of their genius by unscrupulous people who prey on their trusting nature and lack of business and legal knowledge.”
Stone and his lawyer have filed a lawsuit asking $50 million dollars for damages and also “full accounting from royalty collection companies to determine exactly how much had been taken from him.”
Also according to Reuters, Stone is currently working on a new album that will be released sometime this year.
