It’s the last weekend of the month! It’s of our personal opinion that being in attendance of any of the following shows will give January the send-off it deserves. Check them out below:
- Here We Go Magic | Friday, January 29 | 8:00 pm | 18+ | $12 in advance; $14 day of show | Music Hall of Williamsburg, New York, NY – Map | The Brooklyn-based electro-folk/indie outfit beckons us to ride the melancholy train with them, what with dual voices, looming harmonies, and strumming (a la Paul Simon and Simon & Garfunkel, perhaps). - Boomsnake | Friday, January 29 | 9:00 pm | All Ages | $5 | Echo Curio, Los Angeles, CA – Map | The San Diego, Calif.,-based somehow unsigned band is wrapping up their West Coast Tour, having been fueled by dreamy yet structured tunes, a formula that never dies. - Nico Stai | Saturday, January 30 | 8:30 pm | 21+ | $8 | Spaceland, Los Angeles, CA – Map | One of our favorite solo indie rockers of last year’s Sunset Junction, the Los Angeles, Calif., native will be blowing us away again, as he has been known to do quite often. - Red Baraat | Saturday, January 30 | 6:00 pm | 18+ |$12 in advance; $15 day of show | Le Poisson Rouge, New York, NY – Map | ‘Bangin’ Bhangra’ is right. Anyone who takes a jazz/funk approach to cover Daler Mehndi’s “Tunuk Tunuk Tun” deserves our attention. With Pistolera and Gabriel Teodoros – Buy Tickets
- Zelienople | Sunday, January 31 | 8:00 pm | 21+ | $3 | Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL – Map | Three dollars for admittance is a steal in general, but even more so with this line up. Be prepared for heavy-with-mood-inspired music of the esoteric sort. With Xela and Jon Mueller – Buy Tickets
