Michael Jackson Sued For Dancing To R. Kelly’s Ignition
By Seraphina L.It’s sad how some things turn out. Michael Jackson may have been an incredible entrepreneur when it came to branding his music and image but we also know that he owes a lot of money to a lot of people. Now, we may be reporting the most ridiculous lawsuit against the pop legend since his death.
According to HipHopDX, Michael Jackson was seen dancing and singing along to R. Kelly‘s “Ignition” in the car with movie director, Brett Ratner, while he was on vacation in Miami. Universal Music Group, who owns the copyright to Kelly’s song, is now suing Jackson’s estate for $3,000.
The video tape was show during the television show, “Michael Jackson’s Private Home Videos.” Because Jackson did not pay to “use” it in his video, Universal Music Group claims they need reimbursement, reports Contact Music.
It’s a little odd to hear this news since R. Kelly was the one who said he would be finishing the latest album of Michael Jackson’s. We haven’t heard anything from Kelly on the matter, but we’re sure he is aware of what is going on with his record label and the music of the biggest pop star of all of time. Who wouldn’t?
Also, just like numerous other artists, R. Kelly has written tribute songs for Jackson after his death. Perhaps, his label is looking for another way to get him huge?
What do you think of R. Kelly’s people suing Michael Jackson even after death?

Good grief! All Michael did was listen to the music and swing with the beat while sitting in a car, praising the song. In private, in a vehicle! Kelly should be proud Michael liked it that much.

OMG!! This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. All he did was move back and forth and having a good time. Plus this happened years ago so why now. Why all of sudden does he want to sue. Is it because he's not here now and they want to cash in on his death? That is wrong. It was a big deal when it aired years ago, why do they even care now. Money IS the root of all evil.

Stupid, that was in 2003, don't tell me they just found out about it. he was dancing to it in his car and it was a 30 second clip. That is one stupid law suit, what a good friend R Kelly is. I feel for Michael Jackson, he really couldn't trust anyone.

why do people have to go and make things so complicated?
Saturday, January 30, 2010 3:05PM
But still, the Private Home Movies video came out like in 2002 or 2003! They wait that long to sue???? They can go to Hell!

This is just absurd. Michael was sampling the song for his private use. He was not listening to the song for commercial use. Universal Music nor R. Kelly should not get anything. Yes, UM owns the rights as publisher, but R. Kelly still collects royalities as the artist since he wrote the song. When other artist pay tribute to Michael by singing his music or using footage of him, I don't see them giving any money to Michael's Estate?

this is ridiculous and we should boycott anything by Universal Music Group. R kelly needs to speak up.

R Kelly I thought you were a friend of MJ's you are nothing but a hypocrite personified, I didn't realize you need the money so bad or is it just envy . I saw the video I didn't see anything wrong or is it that he has more rhytum then you, HE IS THE KING OF POP, and you are what?

is it really true?? I mean Universal – they are huge – what difference will $3000 make to them? The only thing they accomplish is making a LOT of potential music buyers very angry – that could easily cost them way more than the amount. It is too ridicilous to be believed

Is it ok with R. Kelly that Universal Music Group is suing Michael’s estate? Can he prevent the suit, which, by the way, is ridiculous. MJ was just sitting in the back seat of the car & moving with the music, same as the fellow sitting in the front seat and same as most of us do when something we like comes on the radio or player. Hope the judge tosses the suit out on its ear.

That's P.O.D. Hogwash (Bullshit) for somebody to sue an human being on having the King of Pop dancing to Kell's music! I mean, Hell, we all know that Michael was always love teaming up with many artisits such as Beyonce, Usher, Ashanti, Eve, Diddy, etc jsut because he had gr8 passion the way entertain people. Dang, If they sue R. for something, then hell, explain why they sue other artisits??
Can't aanswer that, can ya?
Mmmph.
All i'm saying is this: Every celeb know that he or she have a free will to do whatever the the hell the want to do to pay tribute to MJ regardless of what day, time, year, or even the month.

Guys it's clearly an anti-Kells article.
This is a ridiculous lie!
R Kelly was one of MJs biggest fans. Stop wasting your time reading garbage like this and watch this instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJv4Ivb7Too&fe…

Everyone wants their piece of the perverbial Michael Jackson pie. This is the most diotic lawsauit I've ever seen thrown at MJ and there are many. Like that one street dancer who tried to sue MJ because he sprained his ankle trying to moonwalk. I listen to music in my car and bop to it too. I guess they're going to sue me as well. IDIOTS.
