Poll Was Taylor Swift Singing Out Of Key At The Grammys1 Poll: Was Taylor Swift Singing Out Of Key At The Grammys?

Although Beyoncé took the top honors with her record breaking 6 Grammy awards last night for female history, Taylor Swift had a big night by winning Best female country vocal performance, Best Country Album of the year, and Best Album of the year. We commend the now 20-year-old for actually writing all her own songs and succeeding in the industry by doing things her way.

However, even as a decent songwriter, her vocals in her live performances always seem to fall short of expectations based on how she sounds in her recordings. She had the great opportunity of performing with the legendary Stevie Nicks last night but anyone with a musical ear noticed that there were some serious pitch issues going on in those harmonies and we don’t think it was on Nicks’ part.

We’ve got the video of the “Today Was a Fairytale”/”Rhiannon”/”You Belong with Me” performance for you below. Watch it and let us know what you think…

Stevie Nicks needs to be by herself on stage with her band and group or with Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks is the Queen of Rock N Roll and should always stand out as the legend she is.. I hope I do not ever have to see Stevie Nicks sing back up to some one like Taylor Swift again. Nothing wrong with Taylor, but for the sake of respect, leave Stevie Nicks who she is..

I couldn’t believe that Taylor Swift was so off key! I actually did a search today to see if anyone commented on THAT! Says a lot when a performer is not so good live but sounds great on the record. Great production can hide a lot. Very disturbing!!

I always knew Taylor Swift could not sing from her current singles because if you just listen to her voice EVEN with the Studio TWEET about 1,000 times before it is released to the public she go off key! Sunday night I was actually embarassed for her, even Stevie Knicks look at her funny looking with soooo MANY BADLY OFF KEY SOUNDS. I thought, this is just not right!! With all of the other recording performances even if you did not like the person singing Taylor Swift by FAR was just HORRIBLE. I think she need to give all of her written material to another person to sing.

I don't think Taylor Swift can sing at all. I do like some of her songs, but she definately can't sing. I cannot believe she gets all these awards! Just goes to show you if you have money, what it can do for you.

Since the first time I heard Taylor sing, I knew right away that obviously her singing and quality of voice is way below mediocre, it is absolutely a disaster. I do not understand where in the world and sake of reality was "the so publicized "singing talent" and "singing awards" she got came from. The Grammy awarding her is a total rip off and for the first time the trust in honesty and integrity of the results is truly bad. So many highly questioned the results of the Grammy when it comes to her. She can well be the laughing category if she ever audition at American Idol. Record making can surely do a lot of tricks and magic to make stinky voices sound "nice" to the listener. Every time I see her perform on TV live, our family leave the room because we cannot stand hearing her bad voice, it is sooooo out of tune and hurting to the ears. I am sure everyone would agree that someone and the other nomonees could sing and actually perform 50 times better than Taylor Swift does. It's a shame a white blondie won again that is not deserving at all. She can just stay in the song writing catagory of "sweety, sweety" songs for country fans.

Taylor needs to go away and mature. Her demographic is preteen/hight school at best. Stevie is a pro and her people probably pointed out her, to not sing with with a novice like Taylor again.
The girl looked like she was making fun & pretending to be Stevie "singing" Rhiannon, like a kid
yelling the song off key. No attempt to harmonize but just belt out pitchy phrases and dance around.
People need to stop giving her awards so she enrolls in college to be somebody special besides a
girl who got too many breaks. She's not country, pop or rock. Just annoying!

I am not a good singer-no I can't sing period. I was stunned at that performance because it sounded like something I would do around the house-when home alone! I was so saddened over what happened to her last year just wanted it to be great for her this year. Oh my!

Taylor's popularity is based on her appearance and personality more than her talent or lack thereof. The backlash of outrage and sympathy from Kanye West 's remarks made it possible for her to become a multiple Grammy winner. Talent had nothing to do with it. If the Grammys were based on looks or personality, Taylor would have been a strong contender.

Money has nothing to do with it.

The Grammy Awards are the most highly esteemed awards given in the recording arts industry. The awards are given out by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and are based on votes from colleagues within the recording industry. The lengthy nomination and voting process involves many people in the recording industry. Grammy winners in all categories are selected by voting members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The academy is comprised of more than 19,000 musicians, producers, recording engineers and other recording professionals. President Neil Portnow explains that the academy is dedicated to serving the music community through membership and awards services, music education and preservation, philanthropy, charity and music advocacy. Members may only nominate candidates and vote within their fields of expertise. Voters are trusted to vote objectively for the product up for nomination, ignoring information about album sales, chart performance, personal bias or obligations to a particular company or record label. Voters have five nominations to choose from in each category; the nominee who receives the highest number of votes wins the Grammy Award.

I have seen her live a few times in the last couple years only because I went to see the headliner or because it was a festival. She was awful each time and almost ruined a LeAnn Rimes concert (I ended up covering my ears) for me because Taylor screeching off key for so long almost caused me to leave before LeAnn. Thank goodness I stayed to hear LeAnn because her fabulousness and stage presence restored my confidence in live music. Fine, Taylor writes cutsey little teen songs and the girls cry and sing along but seriously, she does not deserve the accolades. I am very thankful that most of the newer singers don't have staying power because she will likely fade away soon. I was in Nashville last week and noticed radio plays a lot of Miranda Lambert and not much Taylor.
Yuk. That's is the best way to describe her voice. I was amused how into herself she seemed to be singing with Stevie Nicks. She really thought she was rocking it. EVERYONE I know was in pain. There is no way she had mike/ear piece problems each time I have seen her. Yuk again.

OMG! She has the looks but she can't sing…. No one should blame the earpiece or the volume of the microphone! A singer who knows how to sing shows especially if the beat is out of tune because its her voice that should stand out. make her sing again LIVE! It's the Grammy's, she should be well prepared! Damn!

Yeah! She can sing! Better if she is in the BATHROOM! Awful! Awful!

[...] female artist who has won Album of the Year at this year’s Grammys. (It’s just too bad her duet with Stevie Nicks turned MANY people away from just nonchalantly nodding their heads with that choice.) Yes, we know [...]

very interesting comparing old gen (pre autotune) with new gen (heavy autotune), artists should be hailed for their talent ie live performances not filtered cd work. Think'n Kayne was right!
