Everybody is itching to get richer these days and they’ll do anything to get the money. From spilling hot coffee on themselves at McDonald’s to suing an iconic pop star after his death for dancing to your song, the exponential growth in law suits have become ridiculous and laughable – laughable because most of them are ridiculous!

Bruce Springsteen is not one of these people. Sure, he may be the Boss, so he may not need money as much as others do. However, he also knows when law suits are not necessary – especially if the lawsuit concerning him was not even brought to his attention.

According to the Springsteen’s website, American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) filed a lawsuit against against a Manhattan bar for playing the artist’s songs without his knowledge. “The suit claims Connolly’s Pub violated Springsteen’s copyrights by letting an unidentified band perform two of his songs for profit” reports the Associated Press. They also named Springsteen as a plaintiff which the musician says he would not comply to now. If he had been asked to be a plaintiff prior to this, he also says he would not have agreed to it anyway.

His website states, “Upon learning of this lawsuit this morning, Bruce Springsteen’s representatives demanded the immediate removal of his name from the lawsuit.” When called for a comment, ASCAP did not immediately return any phone calls.

What do you think of ASCAP for going ahead with the lawsuit without Springsteen’s consent?
