Those Darlins 1 LA 112309 Concert Picks: Those Darlins, AA Bondy, Vivian Girls...

We have five reasons for you to get out off the couch this weekend for reasons other than spontaneously yelling “TOUCHDOWN!” or running to the kitchen for chips and beer. Check out our concert picks below:

  • Those Darlins | Friday, February 5 | 8:00 pm | 18+ | $13 | Bowery Ballroom, New York, NY – Map | Country rock never sounded so edgy, so sixties, so fresh. No doubt about it, our recent BeatCrave Fav was chosen for a reason. These girls are seriously fabulous.  Biased? Never! With The So So Glos and Pine Hill Haints - Buy Tickets
  • Helen Stellar | Friday, February 5 | 8:30 pm | 21+ | $5 | Spaceland, Los Angeles, CA – Map | Rock isn’t dead, neither is band ideology. Hidden, yes, albeit slightly by the influx of robot-like stylings and everyone else who “wants to be a star”. Helen Stellar has been around for a while, so its members know what we’re referring to. It’s refreshing to hear that they’ve kept their heads about them, for the benefit of our ears and minds. With Shiloe, Wet & Reckless and Dirt Bird – Buy Tickets

  • AA Bondy | Saturday, February 6 | 8:00 pm | 21+ | $15 | Union Hall, New York, NY – Map | Charming folk music will never lose its… well, charm. Especially when done so correctly, of course – that is, with feeling, sincerity. In a nutshell, that would be AA Bondy. We’ve fallen for him before, and hard. • Vivian Girls | Saturday, February 6 | All Ages | $5 | The Smell, Los Angeles, CA – Map | The Brooklyn-based trio has the knack at convincing us they’ve been around as a band a lot longer than their discography suggests. The’ve plenty ability and vivaciousness to rock out with the best of them. With Best Coast, Dunes and Animal Style – Tickets available at the door.
  • Four Years Strong | Sunday, February 7 | All Ages | $13 | Reggie’s Rock Club, Chicago, IL – Map | Appearances can be deceiving all right; what we believed to have been  upcoming album cover art from the Massachusetts five-some sent us for a little bit of a loop. It’s a known fact to not judge a book by its cover… but we enjoyed their Third Eye Blind and Nine Days covers far too much to not take notice. With Strike Anywhere – Buy Tickets
