mariachi el bronx bs 2 5 10 Concert Tickets with The Bronx, The Hold Steady, Jonsi...

With it being Super Bowl weekend and all, concert tickets might not be at the forefront of your mind. With the the four hours of football, five hours of pregame and ten hours of prepping your body for the onslaught of alcohol and sodium that it will be ingesting, who has time for ticket buying, right?

Well, you might want to make some time as this is by far the strongest concert on sale weekend of the New Year. So while your prepping your buffalo wings on Saturday for the big game on Sunday, why not you spend a few hard earned dollars on the concerts below. That way, when your finished watching the Saints beat the Colts 34-28 on Sunday evening (that’s right, take the over on points) you have something to look forward to this spring while you contemplate just what went wrong with your fantasy team this season.

Here we go:

Headliner: The Bronx

Opener: El Mariachi El Bronx, Japanther

Dates: March 22nd in Kansas City, MO thru April 22nd in Anaheim, CA. All dates here.

Price: $15-$25

What’s The Deal?: Taking a page out of the playbook of such bands as Reggie and the Full Effect and Green Day, hardcore darlings The Bronx will take their Marachi-themed alter-egos El Mariachi El Bronx out for a month long North American tour. For those of you who haven’t guessed, El Mariachi El Bronx  features members of The Bronx playing mariachi themed versions of Bronx songs complete with horns. No word on if the other Bronx side projects La Musique La Bronx or Gimmel-Alef Bronx will take part.

Tickets On Sale: This weekend.

Headliner: The Hold Steady

Opener: TBA

Dates: April 2nd in New York, NY thru April 16th in Harrisburg, PA. All dates here.

Price: $25-$30

What’s The Deal?: Talk about a quick recovery time: After losing their fabulously-mustached keyboardist Franz Nicolay to a life of vaudevillian musical theater (actually, not a joke), The Hold Steady have announced a two week April tour. There really isn’t an album to support, so maybe this is like when a guy goes out on the town to show his ex-girlfriend how much he doesn’t need her or think about her. Stay strong Hold Steady, we are here if you need us…

Tickets On Sale: This weekend.

Headliner: Girls

Opener: Dum Dum Girls

Dates: March 30th in Towson, MO thru April 17th at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival. Find dates here.

Price: $10-$20

What’s The Deal?: Indie-rock fans rejoice: San Francisco’s classic rock-tinged Girls will hit the road with Sub Pop artists Dum Dum Girls for a three week US tour. Enjoy.

Tickets On Sale: Check your local listings.

Headliner: The Dead Weather

Opener: TBA

Dates: April 15th in San Francisco thru May 2nd at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Find dates here.

Price: Depends on venue or festival.

What’s The Deal?: Jack White’s third band will set out on a two week US tour in support of their upcoming sophomore album due in early  April (their second album in less then a year). The Weather are supposed to be amazing live so be sure to check them out before White goes back to work on the new White Stripes reunion album (rumored to be out later this year)… or, you know, before he starts another band in the meantime…

Tickets On Sale: Beginning this weekend.

Headliner: Jonsi

Opener: TBA (but I’m sure they will be soft and moody).

Dates: April 6th in Vancouver thru May 9th in New York. Dates in lowercase here.

Price: However you say $30-$40 in “Hopelandic”.

What’s The Deal?: Putting his day job on the back burner for a bit, Sigur Ros leader singer and language maker-upper Jonsi has announced a month long tour in support of his debut solo record “Go”. Playing multiple nights in most cities, Jonsi is rumored to be planning something epic for this tour. I’m guessing it will involve soft singing, strings and lots of white. Or maybe he will go the other way and play nothing but Bon Jovi covers. Your guess is as good as mine.

Tickets On Sale: This weekend.

Headliner: Paramore

Opener: Relient K and fun.

Dates: April 26th in Knoxville, TN thru May 16th in Las Vegas, NV. Find dates here.

Price: $25-$30

What’s The Deal?: Pop rockers Paramore will hit the road for a three week tour just as their new single “Brick by Boring Brick” is beginning to gain momentum. Haley-and-co. will play theaters and small arena as well as headline day one of the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey with Drake and Kesha.

Tickets On Sale: Check local listings.
