Nico Vega‘s performance at Bardot this past Saturday was so extraordinary, we honestly feel deep sorrow for anyone who missed it. Although we were concerned of the Hollywood hot spot being too posh and extremely out for the fans of the band, the setting worked out quite well for vocalist, Aja. Even though the intimacy of Bardot gave more than enough face-to-face interaction with the audience, the band’s highlights included Aja climbing on top of luxurious sofas and dangling from the banisters – while still managing to sound breathtakingly powerful.

Bardot, directly above The Avalon, is in the center of Hollywood and a little out of the way for most indie scene music fiends. However, those who ventured out the usual boundaries of The Echo or Spaceland were rewarded with many things.

First off, we have to applaud Bardot for their sound system there. They may offer an unconventional stage, but who ever is working the sound at this place should be proud. Cordless mics are even offered and the lighting is also exceptional when compared to most small venues in LA.

Secondly, Aja and her band put on an electrifying set that included a wealth of new songs from the upcoming record. Guitars whaled in all the right spots and the drummer pumped just enough adrenaline to get Aja going who was already busy throwing her body into the music as her voice simultaneously soared and growled.

Check some of our photos out below! We really weren’t kidding about Aja and her climbing.
