Surfer Blood — their name might rub off as either preppy or gory, but these Florida-natives make music in neither one of those categories. Instead, their music is peaceful, happy and easy to listen to. Surfer Blood gained the attention of every music blogger with their lead single Swim, a fist-pumping song that mixes cymbals and choruses very well. Now the West Palm Beach boys are touring the U.S. with not only a hit single, but an album. Surfer Blood released their debut album Astro Coast via Kanine Records, last month. This quartet is busy, busy to the point that they are playing up to two shows a day (in some cities).

This pack of indie rockers has a lot to offer. In the beginning, critics coined Surfer Blood as ‘surfer rocker,’ something that frontman JP Pitts says, peeved him, but after some thought the band embraced their new label. Perhaps it’s the hook in nearly every single one of their songs, or the jangly guitars, but Surfer Blood’s retro vibe works for me, and I’m sure they will work for you.
