Concert Picks: Elk City, Sondre Lerche, Fanfarlo…
By Lindsey DardenTime to settle into your weekend with a few good shows. Wear your comfy shoes, as chances are the following acts will have you on your feet. Check out our picks below:
- Elk City | Friday, February 19 | 7:30 pm | $10 | 21+ | Union Hall, New York, NY – Map | Interestingly hailing from the East coast and not the Oklahoma city their name references, the fivesome’s conversational yet ticklish sound is as pop rock as the candy dancing on your tongue – never sticky, nor too sweet. With Bird of Youth, Gold Lake and LookBook – Buy Tickets
- Sondre Lerche | Friday, February 19 | 10:00 pm | $15 – $18 | 18+ | Lincoln Hall, Chicago, IL – Map | The Norwegian singer-songwriter is back with his latest release, Heartbeat Radio, on top of a vast discography that has us in slight disbelief that he’s still in his twenties. Way to raise the bar, man. Aw hell, we love your intoxicating self anyway. With JBM – Buy Tickets
- Crystal Stilts | Saturday, February 20 | 7:30 pm | $13 – $15 | 18+ | Music Hall of Williamsburg, New York, NY – Map | Previously one of our BeatCrave Fav finalists, the Brooklyn-based alt-rock group are as fabulous as ever, apparently working on a new album and will be releasing an album with David Feck of Comet Gain this spring. Look out; here they come – With The Beets, Christmas Island, Beach Fossils and German Measles – For ticket information, call (718) 486-5400.
- Fanfarlo | Saturday, February 20 | 8:00 pm | $15.50 | El Rey Theatre, Los Angeles, CA – Map | The London-based band’s affinity with orchestral pop themes makes them a favorite of ours on many counts. It might be their smooth-as-honey vocals or interludes border-lining on romantic, but we don’t know whether to thank them for making our hearts flutter or damn them for reminding us we have one. With April Smith and the Great Picture Show - Buy Tickets
- Keaton Simons | Sunday, February 21 | 8:00 pm | 21+ | Hotel Cafe, Los Angeles, CA – Map | To call Simons “a soulful singer-songwriter” is putting it extremely mildly. He doesn’t merely emulate emotion, but he extracts it from us. This guy has the potential of giving John Mayer a run for his money. With Tony Lucca and The Greening – tickets at the door; separate ticket purchase for separate artists. For more info, call (323) 461-2040.
Who are you most looking forward to see/hear this weekend?
