While “Imma let you finish” is still fresh in our collective memory, it’s nice to be reminded every once in a while that in addition to making a very public ass of himself, Kanye West can also make a really expensive and cheesy music video when he sets his mind and record label’s wallet to it. His latest feature is entitled, “Coldest Winter” and it’s off his 2008 disc 808’s & Heartbreak. Check it out…

The video features a young woman running through an ominous, tree-gnarled forest while being haunted by towering grim reapers. The music is remixed with thunderous tribal drums that nearly drown out Kanye’s Autotune’d croon, which kind of defeats the point of the song. Many suspect that the video is about the unexpected death of his mother back in 2007, who died from complications from cosmetic surgery.

Indeed, the video seems more like the introduction to a Gothic and ham-fisted video game than a music clip, but that’s part of the Kanye charm – if it’s not over the top, it’s probably not worth him doing it.

Here’s Kanye’s latest video, “Coldest Winter”…

Actually “I’mma let you finish” is only in the memory of those who aren’t willing to let go. Enjoy.

As usual Kanye is willing to experiment with his vast creativity, and as usual create something fresh, unique, and great. Not his best video, but highly original and interesting to watch.

    Cheesy?
    A public ass of himself?
    Over the top?
I'm glad to see another website anti-Kanye…..Nothing unusual there.

Mr. West makes excellent music, and music videos. Jay-Z should try doing that. He hasn't made anything of substance since The Black Album. On to the Next One is a pathetic excuse for an artistic video as well. That was mediocre compared to this.
