American Idol judges haven’t always been seen as credible. Sure Randy Jackson may have played in Journey and produced hits from Mariah Carey. Simon Cowell may have written songs for Leona Lewis and Kara DioGuardi may have written some hits for every other pop star out there but when it comes down to their critiques on their hit TV show, their advice seems to be taken more as entertainment rather than constructive criticism.

Also, whether people religiously watch Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show or not, many were hesitant about her replacing Paula Abdul. Surprisingly, Degeneres isn’t supplying those saacherine-sweet compliments which often poured from a heavily medicated former 80s pop singer but most people have found the new judge to be grounded. However, singer Patti Labelle, who has had a granddaughter previously compete on the show, does not agree and perhaps has never agreed with the “advice” from the American Idol Judges.

LaBelle expressed her discontent with the judges and their critique for young and aspirational singers earlier today when she told the Associated Press, “Some of the judges, I don’t think they’re even qualified to judge.” It’s not likely she is targeting new judge, DeGeneres, but she did go on to say,  “The comments that were made, they could make you, like, want to kill yourself.”

LaBelle was supposedly asked to judge before they asked Abdul to step in but none of her representatives have confirmed this. After her analysis of the horrible judging she has personally witnessed, what does the 65-year-old R&B singer have to offer to new singers? “If you believe in yourself, just go for it. What do you have to lose? And when people tell you ‘You can’t,’ you have to say, ‘I can.’”

What do you think of Patti LaBelle and her discontent for the American Idol Judges?

Patti's right, none them have the history nor musical background that she or many other artist have. I think Simons critiques are true in most cases, but delivered more harshly then needed. Ellen is a breath of fresh air, and gives very thought out constructive opinions. The other two, should stick to writing for neither are great singers, and their opinions are coming from a biased persona of their personal lives. Most times the don't judge according to music, but rather some false vision or idea of what they think America wants.
