Bob Dylan Sings Mama Said Knock You Out
By Seraphina L.
LL Cool J otherwise known as Ladies Love Cool James is mostly known as an emcee who has rippling muscles, pouty lips, and riské hip-hop music videos, but he’s also served as a pioneer in the rap genre for starting out as a teen and sustaining a career for over two decades. Back when LL Cool J was still putting out raw material like “I Need Love” (which Amanda Blank has recently sampled), one of his biggest hits was “Mama Said Knock You Out.” However, have you ever imagined what it would sound like if Bob Dylan spit the lyrics from that song?
Well, apparently it’s happened. Dylan happened to be hosting his one-hour satellite radio show Theme Time Radio Hour when he aired an episode with the theme of “Mama,” and chose LL’s song to close out the segment. Not only does Dylan’s set lists usually show major diversity but for this particular show which he hosted with Steve Merchant, he even spit some lyrics from memory for LL, himself.
What did LL have to say about Dylan’s skills? Listen below for the unlikely emcee!

This is old. It was aired years ago. Steven Merchant did not cohost any episodes of TTRH (nobody has). There are sometimes prerecorded promos played, but never a cohost. bob often reads lyrics for a song he has played or is preparing to play.
