So, concert enthusiasts, we’ve gone ahead and decided for you that it’s best to roll out the month of February with the genre of your choosing. From 80′s dance to soul, to alternative country and highly experimental, we’ve got your bases covered. No need to thank us. Check out our picks below:

  • Yes Giantess | Friday, February 26 | 8:00 pm | $5 | 21+ | Brooklyn Bowl, New York, NY – Map | Thank goodness for simple equations – disco, pop, electro influences (heavy on the synths!) make us want to dance. Sometimes that’s all that is needed. With Red Wire Black Wire and Samuel - Buy Tickets

  • Strange Boys | Friday, February 26 | 8:30 pm | $8-$10 | 18+ |  The Echo, Los Angeles, CA – Map | Straight out of Austin, Texas, these boys are anything but strange with their trusty guitars and soulful, blues-y rock. Comfort music for what ails you, naturally of the non-coddling sort. With Chain and the Gang and Neverever – Buy Tickets
  • The Sadies | Saturday, February 27 | 8:00 pm | $13-$15 | 21+| Mercury Lounge, New York, NY – Map | The Canadian indie rock band’s country sound is far from the mainstream pop rock n’ roll in the hay we’ve been bombarded with lately. In the most general of descriptions, their sound is quite like a heaping helping of  “Ghost Riders in the Sky” as sung by Johnny Cash… which still makes us swoon and shiver in our boots simultaneously, which is not an easy feat. Props where due. With People of the North and Zeus - Buy Tickets
  • A/V Murder | Saturday, February 27 | 9:00 pm | $8 | 21+ | Beat Kitchen, Chicago, IL – Map | To call these guys energetic would be the grossest understatement we could make about a band. The local-to-Chicago happy hardcore uber punk outfit brings an all-around clever sound that is punctuated by guitars in the most subtle of places, a sound so layered at times that is hard to pinpoint exactly, but one that you’ll know when you hear it. With Fatal Figure, Kamikaze Eyes and Scotia Widows – Buy Tickets
  • Dirty Projectors | Sunday, February 28 | 8:00 pm | $32 | Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, CA – Map | Having accomplished all they were set to do in 2009, it only makes sense that the Dirty Projectors would do something no one would entirely expect them to do: Play with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. We didn’t see it coming either and frankly, we think it fabulous. Just the thougth of the Brooklyn-based act’s brand of orchestral sound on display at a shared event with one of the world’s most prestigious orchestras makes us bite our lips in anticipation. With Alarm Will Sound – Buy Tickets

Those are our picks, and we’re sticking to them. Who’s on your ‘to-see’ list this weekend?
