Eric Avery Really Quits Jane’s Addiction
By Seraphina L.No one really enjoys spreading rumors, but word does go around when a credible source is sharing the information. Just like any news, whether it is for a festival lineup or change in a band lineup, the process still takes the similar path to a duck-duck-goose game: Rumor-rumor-fact. In this case, the rumor-now-fact involves former Jane’s Addiction bass player, Eric Avery.
Yes, you read right. Former bass player for Jane’s Addiction. Eric Avery has really quit Jane’s Addiction for good.
Although Avery reunited with his band mates for a massive tour that even had them play with Nine Inch Nails on their final tour, many were beginning to think that his participation had a hidden agenda. This stemmed from the fact that Jane’s Addictions fans were circulating news of former Guns N’ Roses bassist, Duff McKagan, would be joining Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, and Stephen Perkins to replace Avery. The Jane’s Addiction fan site, xiola.org previously stated the following after their own research:
“according to perry farrell’s twitter account, the band is writing. this includes dave navarro, stephen perkins, and a ‘new writing partner’. no word yet who that is.”
Now, according to Consequence of Sound, Avery has also released some news in regards to the band lineup. Although he hasn’t confirmed McKagan as his replacement, he did share this via his twitter:
“thats it. with equal parts regret and relief, the janes addiction experiment is at an end.”
Jane’s Addiction just wrapped up their ridiculously long tour last night over in Perth, Australia, so it makes sense that Avery would tweet this news first thing today – as soon as he could. We’ll never know how he exactly felt about rejoining them on this tour. It’s not exactly like he had to. However, Avery will always be associated with Jane’s Addiction and all endings are a little sad.
What do you think about Eric Avery quitting Jane’s Addiction for good?
