Lil Wayne Sentencing Postponed For A Second Time Lil Wayne Sentencing Postponed For A Second Time

Rapper, Lil Wayne, was sentenced to a yearlong jail term when he pleaded guilty for possessing a loaded gun on his tour bus back in July of 2007. Wayne was originally set to pay his dues behind bars last month but it was postponed because he needed dental surgery for a toothache which is assumed to be related to his “grill” or rather jewelry encrusted teeth.

His sentencing was rescheduled to start today on Tuesday, March 2nd 2010, but the criminal courthouse he was assigned to randomly caught on fire leaving “eight people with minor injuries and forced about 1,000 to flee the building,” according to the Associated Press and inevitably postponing the rapper’s sentencing once again. One would think Wayne would be slightly pleased with the delay but it surprisingly isn’t the case.

According to Lil Wayne’s lawyer, Stacey Richman, he was very unhappy about the postponement stating, “Once you make up your mind to do something, you want to do it.” As much flak as we give the artist for his music, we do believe what his lawyer has said. By pleading guilty and determined to do the time in order to pay for the crime, we are aware that Lil Wayne wants to get what he deserves for breaking the law.

Although he has just released his album, Rebirth, last month, Wayne has been hard at work by trying to preserve his presence in the music industry during his absence. We previously mentioned how he would be playing “God” in a Cartoon Network show headed by colleague, T-Pain, but he has also said his goodbyes for the following year in numerous other ways. These include a Rolling Stone cover story, a video blitz and “a video clip sent Monday to MTV News that he shot footage for seven music videos with various artists in one night over the weekend,” as reported by the Associated Press.

For those of you who may be suspicious of the fire’s timing, Lil Wayne should probably be given a break at the least for mere assumption. There are still investigations as to what caused the fire. There is no word on a rescheduled date as they are still treating many people including firefighters. So, for now, Lil Wayne’s only option is to wait it out and think about what has gotten him into this debacle in the first place.

What do you think of Lil Wayne’s second postponed sentencing?
