happyhollows Concert Picks: The Happy Hollows, The Silent League, LOrchidee DHawai...

When not falling down rabbit holes or figuring out exactly what to do with the potential of sunny weather, we suggest you take a gander at what the scene has to offer this weekend.

  • The Happy Hollows | Friday, March 5 | 8:00 pm | 21+ | $4 | Cake Shop, New York, NY – Map | Thanks to their brand of rock-hardness, our frequent favorite here at BeatCrave keeps us hip on the energy front and wielding smiles like sharp objects. We don’t know about you, but among other things, something tells us their lively midnight set was made to well complement the deliriousness that comes with a long day or a bottle of cold, cheap beer. With Forest City, Keepaway, and Tony Castles – for more information, call (212) 253-0036.
  • The Bird and The Bee | Friday, March 5 | 8:00 pm | $18 | El Rey Theater, Los Angeles, CA – Map | Mm, nom nom nom, here comes another favorite of ours. With a new album set to be released on March 23rd, Los Angeles’ very own The Bird and the Bee will be presenting the hits of Daryl Hall and John Oates in a way that you’ve ever heard them before (okay, perhaps somewhat like you’ve heard them before, but not entirely). We envision it will be like falling into a glorious vat of cheesecake. There’s currently no better comparison. With Juliette Commagere – Buy Tickets

  • Gauge | Saturday, March 6 | 8:00 pm | 18+ | $10 | Bottom Lounge, Chicago, IL – Map | The Chicago-based punk band is back working the scene fifteen years since their last show. Still sounding solid, this reunion show of sorts is bound to please fans on either end of the spectrum. With Runner, American Heritage and Big Science – Buy Tickets
  • The Silent League | Saturday, March 6 | 9:00 pm | 21+ | $10 | Sycamore, New York, NY – Map | The Brooklyn, New York-based band’s theatrical orchestrations have got us wondering where our heads are, having seemingly been in the sand one minute to just above the clouds… is this real life? Studio recordings consist of guitars, drums, and piano leading to a layer of far-from-the-usual instruments; with this show billed as acoustic we’ve no doubt they are welcoming the “challenge”.  For more information, call (347) 240-5850.
  • L’Orchidee D’Hawai | Sunday, March 7 | 9:00 pm | $5 |Echo Curio, Los Angeles, CA – Map | The gypsy folk/surf rock band from Chambry, France, manages to pull of various ranging music and linguistic styles without breaking a sweat – however making us perspire at the thought. Sure, they will also be showcasing at SXSW this month, but you can see them here! We highly suggest being in attendance, as they are a definite treat. With Bella Novella, Manicorn, and George Glass – click here for more information.

We’ve told you our picks; now you tell us – who are you excited to see perform this weekend?
