In his seminal 1882 philosophical work, The Gay Science, Friedrich Nietzsche declared “Gott ist tot,” which translated from German states, “God is dead.”  In 2010, Poison frontman/ no-this-isn’t-male-pattern-baldness-I-just-really-like-bandannas-and-cowboy-hats aficionado Bret Michaels and Miley Cyrus are teaming up to both prove and cement Nietzsche’s claim with a series of duets on their upcoming albums.

Reuters reports that the two “singers” (oh, what the hell, it’s a nice day today, take off the quotes), will each duet on two tracks from their new records. Cyrus will contribute vocals to Michaels’ “Nothing to Lose” from his upcoming solo disc Custom Built, the follow-up to 2008’s Rock My World; Michaels will be lending his voice to Cyrus’ cover of Poison’s “Every Rose Has it’s Thorn” on her untitled next album.

Cyrus had originally contacted Michaels to join her on the Poison cover, when the aging ‘80s frontman played her “Nothing to Lose.”  States Michaels, “she fell in love with it and said she’d love to sing on the song. I was like, ‘That’d be killer!’”

In other news, the skies turned slate-gray and the oceans turned black today, with birds falling dead to the ground while marauding bands of white-haired, wide-eyed children began roaming countrysides and terrorizing several small towns in the Midwest and New England areas.

What do you think of Miley Cyrus and Bret Michaels teaming up to make music?
