Simon & Garfunkel Announce Tour Dates In Canada
By Jeffrey Hyatt
While a tour of the U.S. might be in the works, for now the legendary Simon & Garfunkel are ready to perform in a series of shows across Canada. The duo announced Friday that they will be taking their ‘Old Friends in Concert’ tour to several Canadian cities this spring, including Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.
Check below for the complete tour itinerary.
Known for big, folk-y hits like “The Sound of Silence,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Mrs. Robinson,” Simon & Garfunkel released five albums between 1964 and 1970 – calling it quits following their Grammy-winning Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Their solo careers are well-documented, and the reunion gig/free show in New York City’s Central Park in 1981 was a huge success. A tour followed, but any hope of new music was quickly tossed aside due to creative differences. It happens!
But there was a big, new reunion that kicked-off at the Grammy Awards in 2003, and the twosome have toured together here and there ever since.
The ‘Old Friends in Concert’ will hit the New Orleans Jazz Festival on April 24 and touch down in Fargo, ND on May 7 and in Twin Cities, MN on May 8, but no word yet on a complete trek across America.
Tickets for much of the Canadian tour will go on sale March 12 (March 13 for Montreal), according to the official website.
