Listen: The White Stripes Live Album

The soundtrack to the Emmett Malloy-directed White Stripes documentary of their 2007 Canadian tour, Under the Great White Northern Lights, will not be released until March 16 – but check this: zip on over to NPR to hear the complete album right now.
The 16-track collection includes the tunes “Icky Thump,” ”Blue Orchid,” “Fell in Love with a Girl,” and “Seven Nation Army,” plus a cover of Dolly Parton’s classic “Jolene.”
Captured by Malloy with grainy black-and-white and color footage, Jack and Meg White played all sorts of remote towns and provinces across Canada: from local bowling alleys, to city buses and the historic Savoy Theatre in Nova Scotia for the 10th Anniversary show. A show that turned out to be the longest show the band had ever done on stage together.
“Having never done a tour of Canada, Meg and I thought it was high time to go whole hog…from the ocean to the permafrost” says Jack White.
“We wanted to play out of the way towns that don’t usually get shows…the shows are better, it’s better for the people, it’s a better experience, it’s way more unique, something interesting is going to happen…hopefully.”
Next week’s Under Great White Northern Lights release can be picked up in several formats– DVD, CD and a (super) super-deluxe box set that the film DVD, DVD of The White Stripes 10th anniversary show, the live album, a 208-page book with photos from the tour by Autumn de Wilde and a silk screen print.
This Wednesday, 12 U.S. cities will hold screenings of Under Great White Northern Lights. Here is a listing of AMC theaters where you can catch the show.

I cannot wait to see this! I was at the Edmonton show and it was incredible. There is no better band than The White Stripes!
