Goo Goo Dolls Announce New Album Title (Stop Snickering)

Relax, friends, as you no longer need to wait with bated breath – the Goo Goo Dolls today have confirmed the title of their new (and, sweet Jesus, their ninth) album: Something for the Rest of Us.  The album will be unleashed upon the world by Warner Brothers later this year, with the record company signaling the disc’s release with a blast of seven trumpets and filling the darkened sky with a plague of locusts.  Either that, or popping out a handful of singles and slipping a song or two into another stellar soundtrack, a la the band’s contribution to Transformers: The Album, “Before It’s Too Late (Sam and Mikaela’s Theme).

You can catch the band on tour this spring (dates here), in order to whet your appetite for the upcoming record which, while the complete track listing is not yet available, we can all hope contains at least one more Supertramp cover by the rock-turned-pop threesome.  The tour will also feature “special guests” The Rocket Summer and Vedura, as well as a general yet palpable and free-floating sense of shame hovering over the crowd as they all avoid eye contact with one another and promise to never speak of this again.
