New Kid Cudi, Ratatat, MGMT Music Video: Pursuit of Happiness
By Seraphina L.Kanye West‘s latest protege, Kid Cudi, has made a name for himself over the past year and for someone who runs in West’s circle of friends, he seems pretty chill. We liked him even more when he teamed up with electronic rock duo Ratatat and Brooklyn hipster duo, MGMT for the song, “Pursuit of Happiness.” However, the video for the song was lackluster for such a great collaboration. We’re sure Drake fans were happy to see him popping champagne bottles with Kid Cudi in slow motion, but it came off as just an other stereotyped video for the hip hop genre.
Apparently, the rapper must have been noted the forgetful characteristics of the video because according to New York Magazine, there is a brand new video for the song and Ratatat actually makes an appearance in this remake. Directed by Megaforce, the song’s swagger is matched up with some disorienting gravitational issues, but is successfully much more entertaining than the original. Watch Kid Cudi climb out a window yet somehow always wind up on the tan leather couch he starts off on. Ratatat appropriately appears in a cloud of smoke.
