She Keeps Bees: BeatCrave Fav
By Seraphina L.She Keeps Bees isn’t a new name to us at BeatCrave. We were lucky enough to interview the duo for our Know Your NYC Bands series back in 2009, but that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to share the wealth. As you may have noticed, She Keeps Bees is not just a she but a two-person band that consists of Jessica Larrabee and Andy LaPlant.
The duo first caught our attention when they first released “Gimme” as a single. There’s something about the smokey vocals Larrabee provides on that song when she sings the lyrics, “Work me like my back ain’t got no bone.” We’ve mentioned that before but it’s great lines like that and simple guitar chords that puts She Keeps Bees in the same category as the Black Keys. There is a whole lot of soul that makes a simple song sound much bigger than the chords written down on paper. Get to know She Keeps Bees a bit more in our BeatCrave Fav series below!
