SXSW Daily News Update
By Travis Woods
As this year’s SXSW festival descends upon Austin, TX, with dozens upon dozens upon dozens of bands along with thousands of music fans and industry hotshots swarming to the Texas town, it’s easy for SXSW-related news to fall through the cracks. Here’s a quick roundup of just a few such stories that are emerging this morning:
- Too busy at SXSW murdering your eardrums, drowning your liver, and then falling into a mild catatonic state for six or so hours before waking to do it all again? And further, are you afraid of missing the massive torrent of emails, texts, and tweets announcing RSVP-only events while locked in said coma? Well, CNet reports that a mysterious new enterprise entitled RSVP While You Sleep is offering to RSVP to the events for you—as long as you don’t mind forking over $37, that is.
- Wanna check out a supergroup that sounds as if it actually may not suck? Check out MG&V when they perform at the Coda Agency SXSW Showcase at the Ale House on Friday, March 19th at 1 AM. Oh, and if you’re a stickler for details, according to AntiMusic.com MG&V stands for John McCauley (frontman of Deer Tick), Taylor Goldsmith (frontman of alt-country revivalists Dawes) and Matt Vasquez (frontman of folk-rockers Delta Spirit). Sounds like it’ll wash the awful, awful supergroup sound of bands like Audioslave directly from your ears—check ‘em out.
- A SXSW first-timer? The Austinist suggests you check out the How to Rawk SXSW panel today at 2 PM at the Austin Convention Center (500 E Cesar Chavez Street)—the useful panel offers learned tips on how to mix business with pleasure at the festival, so that you catch all the shows and panels in your itinerary while still managing to make it to that alcohol coma mentioned above
Are you a SXSW veteran? What do you suggest checking out during the festival?

Hmmmmm the writer takes a dump on Audioslave but yet creams in his skinny jeans over some supposed "supergroup" consisting of guys in bands that maybe twelve people on earth have ever heard of. The very definition of supergroup came In the late 1960s and it was coined to describe a rock music group whose performers are already FAMOUS from having performed individually or in other groups and not just because some pretentious, snobby writer says it to be. Audioslave was far from perfect but they were a supergroup unlike some guy from Deer Tick(lol) and from some crappy alt country band, One thing comes to my mind when I hear or read the term "alt-country revivalists" and that thing is the most annoying sound in the world. The M G & V stand for Mary, Greg and Valerie the only three people on earth who have ever heard of these jagaloons.

supergroup MG&V is not a SUPERgroup. Writer needs to do a little check on what a supergroup is
