BEP TW 3 17 10 Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, Alicia Keys Headline World Cup Concert

To celebrate the 2010 World Cup that’s being held in Africa, the Black Eyed Peas, Shakira and Alicia Keys are set to headline a concert in Soweto on June 10th, just one night before soccer’s 30-day big event is scheduled to begin.

The concert, to be held in a 30,000-capacity stadium, will feature a multitude of artists and will be broadcast live to the entire world. On behalf of the United States of America, Beatcrave would like to apologize to the good people of Soweto for sending the band which penned “Let’s Get it Started,” “Don’t Phunk with My Heart,” and the immortal (God help us) “My Humps.” Seriously, we don’t know what we were thinking. Our bad, South Africa. Our bad.

On a more positive note, Reuters reports that net proceeds from the mega-concert will go towards the 20 Centres for 2010, an organization selected by FIFA to be the “official social campaign” of the World Cup. The group “aims to build 20 centers across the continent offering health care services, education and soccer training for disadvantaged communities,” which is a nice upside and silver lining to the aural holocaust of Fergie shouting “my lovely lady lumps” to 30,000 rowdy soccer hooligans and fans.

What do you think of the World Cup concert headliners?
