coldplay1024 Coldplay Turn Down Glee Offer; Madonna, Lady Gaga Say Yes

No Coldplay for you, Glee fans. Word is the band has rejected an offer to have their music used on the singing and dancing TV show. For the record, awesome rocker Bryan Adams also put the kibosh on Glee covering his tunes.

But series creator Ryan Murphy did confirm the show will feature Madonna and Lady Gaga in upcoming episodes. But no Coldplay. Got it?

Said Murphy:

“We’re doing an episode that’s a tribute to theatricality. We reached out to Lady Gaga and she said, “Yes, I’d love to be a part of it’.”

As for Madonna, now this is just the kind of thing you’d expect her to get involved with – and that’s necessarily a knock on the Material Girl. It’s good business for the Madonna brand.

Murphy revealed that Madonna will be starring in an upcoming episode, which will feature around ten of her songs.

“I’ve worked with Madonna before,” said Murphy. “I admire her greatly and I’m friends with her a little bit socially. I called her up and wrote her a letter said we want to write up a tribute to you and she said yes and she cooperated in every way possible. We’ll do ten songs altogether.”

Glee returns to the US on April 13 on Fox.

Do you think Coldplay are making a mistake by shunning those groovy kids on Glee?

Bryan Adams did not put a kibosh on Glee using his songs. Per his tweet of March 14/10:

"Just to set the record straight, no one from Glee has ever approached me for songs on their TV show… "
