Jack White And Jay-Z Collaborate On New Track
By Travis Woods
Remember back in 2004, when Jay-Z collaborated with Linkin Park on Collision Course, a six-song EP mash-up of nu-metal, rap-rock and hip-hop? And if so, do you remember wondering what it would be like if Hova had collaborated with a rock music artist or group that didn’t suck? You’re about to get the answer…
Well, if the above applies to you – and it should – White Stripes frontman, Dead Weather and Raconteurs guitarist, and all-round rock ‘n roll hotshot Jack White may be the answer to your prayers. The modern guitar god told GQ that he recently collaborated on a track with hip-hop superstar Jay-Z: “We did a song together a few weeks ago. It was incredible.”
White brought Jigga a song he’d “been kicking around for a while” which, to White’s surprise, the rapper “immediately came out with words for it… It’s unbelievable-sounding.”
White, who has previously dipped into classic rock, garage, blues, country, punk and bluegrass, has never before ventured into the world of hip-hop, making this song something of a hot commodity. No word yet on its title or genre, nor is there any news on the track’s release, or upon whose album it will appear. One thing is for certain – the sheer idea of the collaboration is already better than any existing track on Collision Course.
What do you think? Do you want to hear a Jack White/ Jay-Z collaboration?
