Ben Harper Gets Ringo Starr, Jackson Browne On New Album
By Travis Woods
When recording a new album, it’s always nice to have a little help from your friends – especially if one of those friends happens to be the drummer from the greatest rock/pop band since, well, ever. According to Rolling Stone, that’s a fact Ben Harper is well aware of – the singer/ guitarist’s upcoming album with his semi-new band, Relentless7, will feature Beatles drummer Ringo Starr on one track and another will feature Jackson Browne on background vocals.
Playing with a Beatle is enough to get any musician jazzed, even if it is Ringo (kidding, kidding…), but Harper seems far more enthusiastic about the growth of his current band, with whom he released their debut last year. He also says “record” too much.
“Any musician is always excited about their new record, but I can say when we made the first Relentless7 record, we became a band just after we made that record and this new record, Give Till It’s Gone, is the record we made as a band. And I think you can hear and feel that.”
Ben Harper and the Relentless7’s (bassist Jesse Ingalls, guitarist Jason Mozersky, and drummer Jordan Richardson) new record, Give Till It’s Gone, will be released this fall.
