Axl Rose Sued For Nearly $2 Million
By Travis Woods
Axl Rose, frontman for both Guns N’ Roses and the essentially-just-a-tribute-band group that currently tours under that name, has apparently—gasp!—burned a bridge in the music industry. AP reports that Irving Azoff’s Front Line Management sued the waxy-faced (seriously, what is that? Botox?) singer on Thursday for approximately $1.9 million in “unpaid commissions” and fees.
The management company contends that Rose broke an oral agreement for Front Line to receive 5% the singer’s commissions, which are “due on more than $12 million in earnings” that he earned from performances overseas.
One can’t help but almost pity Irving Azoff and Front Line Management, as the company made a nearly $2 million oral deal with Axl Rose, and were then surprised when Rose—normally the most even-keeled and predictable of folks—allegedly decided to change his mind keep the money for himself. Who could have seen that coming?
Then again, Irving Azoff is the CEO of Ticketmaster Entertainment, which happens to be the music industry equivalent of Star Wars’ Emperor Palpatine and his dark Empire, so you’ll be forgiven if you’re not shedding too many tears over this. Axl isn’t crying either, but that’s just because all the nerves and tear ducts in his face were removed nearly ten years ago.
What do you think? Does Front Line sound justified in their suit?
