If you weren’t aware of Passion Pit having their own record label, you know now. Also, when we say Passion Pit, we really mean their synth-sample player, Ayad Al Adhamy. Adhamy runs an imprint that goes by the name of Black Bell Records and with the success of Passion Pit over the last one and half years and indie artists having the freedom to do what they want these days, we’re not actually surprised Adhamy has his own label.

The big part in this piece of news is that Adhamy just signed his first band to the label – and a great one at that. Black Bell Records’ first artist is none other than North Wales-based band, The Joy Formidable.

As huge fans of The Joy Formidable, a band who was featured in our BeatCrave Fav series a while back, we’re also not too surprised that they signed with Black Bell Records. They too, had been making a name for themselves around the same time as Passion Pit with their EP, “A Balloon Called Moaning.” They had also supported Passion Pit on tour for numerous dates as well.

Having friends who are able to start their own labels somewhat helps. Not only do musicians know it’s a friend they can trust but they also know that it’s just a small imprint they have to deal with first instead of battling all those big-time executives up at the top of the major labels.

According to CoS, Black Bell Records will be re-releasing The Joy Formidable’s “A Balloon Called Moanin”g on May 4th. They also report that there is still a chance to get the original on the band’s website as well.

The Joy Formidable continues to impress music lovers and even if you’re not a fan of Passion Pit, it’s pretty hard to admit you’re not a fan of the band that hales from England with their art pop rock. They’re currently on tour on the other side of the ocean (unfortunately for us) but if you’re over in Europe, check out these upcoming dates!
