Hard work pays off when you’re musicians on the road touring and making an album, and Arctic Monkeys seem to have this mentality. Although they’ve only recently released their album, Humbug, in 2009 and touring in support of the successful album, they’re eager to go back into the studio and record some new material while it’s still fresh in their minds.

As fans of Humbug, we can’t help but encourage this strong effort of theirs to release new music. Of course, there aren’t really any specific details about the upcoming album yet since they’re still on tour but the little bit of news back from November is a tad more fleshed out now.

According to the NME Radio interview (via CoS), they’ll be recording as soon as their tour wraps up. Drummer, Matt Helders, shared their reason behind this decision: “We’ve said we’ll stop touring this album and we’re eager to start working on new stuff again, not have time off again.”

Lead vocalist and guitarist, Alex Turner, added, “We haven’t tied our shoelaces yet, so it’s hard to say [what it would sound like] there’s a few things we’ve been playing around together and we’ve spoke about how we might go about it,” Turner said. “We haven’t started walking yet, the laces are undone, never mind dancing.”

Now, one of aspects that worked really well during the recording of Humbug, is that Queens of The Stone Age‘s Josh Homme provided the production. Will he be back on board to do the upcoming album now that Homme’s band is about to embark on a reunion tour in Germany? Helders revealed his wishes when he said, “It’s hard to say, both parties are up for it but they have a lot going on around the time we’d need to be recording, but we’d like to.”

The Arctic Monkeys will still be touring until the end of April 2010. Check the dates out below and expect some updates after they’re off the road and back in the studio.
