Radiohead Producer and Drummer Each Take On Solo Projects
By Seraphina L.
Radiohead is pretty much always in the news and whether you’re a fan or not, most see the headline and are at least intrigued enough to read what’s going on with them. Frontman, Thom Yorke, has been part of our headlines quite a bit within the last few months ever since he started a solo band with Flea and debuted a few new songs under the moniker, Atoms For Peace.
We also know that Radiohead is also working on a new album since they were working on it before they decided to do an impromptu Haiti relief concert in Los Angeles. Well, it looks like other members and colleagues of the band are doing their own thing as well. More info after the jump!
According to The Playlist (via CoS), good friend and producer to Radiohead, Nigel Godrich is in the middle of putting together a soundtrack for the film, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Guests we know of so far include, Beck, Broken Social Scene and Metric. However, The Playlist has reported that Godrich will also score the film “with a bevy of undisclosed musicians.” Who are these musicians? We want to know! Perhaps, it’ll be the best compilation of the year! Beck also lets us in on one other detail: The soundtrack is scheduled for release on August 13th.
In addition to Radiohead member, Jonny Greenwood also scoring a different film, drummer Phil Selway is working on a solo album! (So many little treats for hardcore Radiohead fans! Collect them ALL!) He’ll currently on tour in Europe to give the fans over a big of a preview but fear not – just because we’re State side, it doesn’t mean we can’t hear any of these songs.
The good folks over at Prefix have put found a few videos of him performing songs such as “Running Blind,” “Broken Promises” and “The Witching Hour.” You can watch and listen to them below:
