Yoko Ono Scores Number 1 Dance Club Hit
By Travis Woods
Yoko Ono fans, break out your pant-suits, fedoras, and eerily emotionless stares–because Ono is storming the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Charts (sweet, sweet Jesus, this is bad) all the way to number one with the single, “Give Me Something.” It’s a buzzy, synthy remix of her track of the same name from Double Fantasy, Ono’s now classic 1980 collaborative album with her husband, John Lennon.
The song can be found on Give Me Something (The Remixes) which—you guessed it—is a series of remixes of older Ono tracks featuring work by artists as desperate as Morel, Dave Aude, Stonebridge, Junior Boys, and Sparks. It’s all part of Ono’s remix series which, according to her press release, “has paired the avant-garde icon with an array of cutting edge producers and collaborators,” including the Flaming Lips, the Pet Shop Boys and Spiritualized.
So if atonal vocal warbling blended with beep blipped synth lines and hyper repetitive beats is your thing, be sure to check out Give Me Something (The Remixes). But if you’re say, a Beatles fan (or of good music in general), you may wish to steer south of the near heretic “Give Peace a Chance” remix—it’s enough to make you wish for World War III.
What do you think of Ono remixing her work with John Lennon?

well as you said yourself it is HER work, and this series has been very successful for her .
although it doesn't translate into much sales wise these remixes have topped this chart almost
half a dozen times over the past decade who would have guessed, back when…?

Yoko was just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up to her. She was way ahead of her time in the 70's. So many groups try to sound like her. The B-52's were a great example. Someone should do a Yoko Ono/B-52 mix. That would be interesting.

this IS her 6th Dance Club Chart TOPPER in 8 years (11 in top twenty since 2002)
previously she had 2 Dance Club chart top 20 hits in the 1980's. so this has been her
niche for a while…
