Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke Announces Solo Album And Tour

Tons of musicians are taking on new projects outside of their bands. We’ve recently got Slash, Jonny Greenwood, Nigel Godrich, Phil Selway and tons more. Now you can you add Bloc Party‘s frontman, Kele Okereke. While he takes a break from his popular British band, he’s putting the finish touches on his solo album, The Boxer.

According to NME (via our buddies over at CoS), The Boxer will be a 10-track album that will be released on June 21st in the UK. Also, if you thought some of Bloc Party’s music was dance-heavy, Okereke revealed that his solo album will boast even more hyped up party beats than you’re used to from the band as stated when he shared:

“I’ve been into clubbing for years. I’ve said from the beginning I’m into dance, it gets me excited and I think this record is going to go some way to prove that to people, hopefully.”

The album’s lead single will be “Tenderoni” and will be released on June 14th. (Does he listen to Chromeo much?) In support of the upcoming album, he’ll also be going on tour in the UK in the beginning of May in addition to some festival dates in June and August. Check them out below!
