Slash Album Includes Collaborations With Iggy Pop, Chris Cornell, Fergie

Slash has finally released his own album after playing on a massive amount of other people’s releases. However, just because he finally put something out on his own doesn’t mean he’s alone. We knew Slash was working on a ton of collaborations for his self-titled album (since Jack White said no), but we didn’t really understand his reasoning behind doing a “solo” album with “collaborations.”
The album boasts collaborations with Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, Fergie (oddly, enough), Chris Cornell, and Adam Levine. The lead single off of the album will be his song, “By The Sword,” which features Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother on vocals.
Slash recently told Reuters why he wanted to make a solo album when he explained, “I just got to that point where I actually needed to do something on my own. It’s one of the few things that I hadn’t done in my musical career.” We totally get that, but what’s up with all the collaborations? Was he just thinking about the money?
Apparently, he decided it would be fun to flip the game around when he stated, “I thought ‘You know, that would be a fun thing to do, where I get a bunch of different people to guest on my record as opposed to me appearing on everybody else’s records.’”
Now you may have noticed that one name stuck out in the list of collabos. If you’re wondering why he decided to work with pop star, Fergie – who he met when he surprised Black Eyed Peas fans by walking onto the stage at one of their concerts to sing Guns N’ Roses‘ “Sweet Child O’Mine.” Apparently, after that he started to really dig Fergie as an artist: “She has this amazing rock ‘n’ roll voice and she’s sort of a closet rock ‘n’ roll singer. She’s got a lot of balls. For a female rock singer she’s one of the best women I’ve ever heard.”
His album “creatively” titled Slash is out now via EMI.
What do you think of Slash’s collaboration-solo album? Do you already have it?
