Gamble House: BeatCrave Fav
By Laura AguirreListening to Gamble House felt like listening to a great-grandfather tell folktales around a pit of fire. LA’s Gamble House recently released their debut self-titled album, which surprisingly sounds a lot like movie’s score. Their sound is a lot like Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective but there’s still a unique edginess to Gamble House’s whole sound.
Lead vocalist Ben Becker started this project in his NYU bedroom and then continued at his home in LA. There is definitely a homey feeling to Gamble House. Their range instruments runs wide from drums to cymbals to flutes and saxophones along with instrumentation à la Radiohead. Their songs would be perfect for a Wes Anderson film or even, dare I say, a film adaptation of Catcher in the Rye. Their soothing acoustics and long arpeggios make Gamble House play like a youth novel and folktales, and they will keep you coming back for more. Gamble House’s unique sound is prime and that’s why their our BeatCrave Fav. Take a look…
