Pink Floyds Roger Waters Takes The Wall On Tour This Fall Pink Floyds Roger Waters Takes The Wall On Tour This Fall

Ask any one who knows their psychedelic rock or any kid in college who is just discovering out of body experiences through music and drugs, and they’ll most likely go back to the story of when they first listened to and watched The Wall from Pink Floyd. To this day, the album and its mind-numbing film that accompanied it, is still legendary.

If you’re one of those people who wish time travel had already been invented just so you could have experienced The Wall – Live In Berlin, you now have another option. Co-creator and Pink Floyd band member, Roger Waters, is about to take it to a whole new level when he brings The Wall to life once again – and on tour.

To mark the grand and 30th anniversary, Waters will be taking a large role in reinventing a live performance of The Wall for fans this Fall. Just like its major influence on music fiends everywhere, the project still means a great deal to the musician as well. He recently told the Associated Press about his upcoming plans why he feels the need to execute them:

“In the 30-odd years since I first performed this piece, it’s taken on some new meanings for me [...] Thirty years ago when I was kind of an angry and not very young lad, I found myself driven into defensive positions because I was scared of stuff, and I’ve come to realize that in that personal story, maybe somewhere hidden in there exists an allegory for more general and universal themes, political and social themes. It’s really for that reason that I decided that I’d try and create a new performance of this piece using a lot of the same things that we did all those years ago.”

Now for all you gung-ho fans who don’t like straying from the original, be careful not to dismiss this new your so fast. With the technology of today, when compared to the live performances back in the day. Waters is excited to be putting on a new version of The Wall and he has legitimate reasons:

“Projection systems now are completely different from what they were then, which means that I would be able to project over the entire 250-foot expanse of the wall … which we couldn’t do in those days [...] When we did it then, we were after the end of the Vietnam War, and we’re right now in the middle of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, so there’s a very powerful anti-war message in `The Wall.’ There was then and there still is now.”

Waters plans to tribute a segment of the show to soldiers who have lost their lives in past and current wars. He also revealed that this tour will be somewhat of a “swan song” for him. What better way to celebrate a career than performing one of the biggest rock moments all over again?

The tour dates, which you can check out below, have officially been announced today.
