Not to sound like a total ogre, but if there’s a plus side to all the wars, disasters and general existential bleakness and misery in the world, it’s that we at least get some pretty good music out of it, especially in times of crisis.  So fellow ogres rejoice, as Spin reports that the charmingly oddball singer/ songwriter Regina Spektor has offered up a gorgeous, minimalist cover of Radiohead’s “No Surprises” to iTunes, with 100% of the song’s profits going towards Doctors Without Borders’ Emergency Relief Fund.

Spekor, who originally covered the track in March at a New York City benefit concert which raised money to aid the Doctors Without Borders efforts in Haiti and Chili, had this to say about the postmodern lullaby from Radiohead’s classic, OK Computer:

“I LOVE them… thank them for donating their proceeds too!!! They are the best!”

Spektor’s version of the haunting track slows the glacial tune down even further than the original, while adding a few extra layers of vocal beauty to an already painfully-pretty song.  If you want to get your hands on it, do your good deed for the day and nab it here for $1.29, with your cash going towards a worthy cause.

What do you think of Spektor’s take on the song?
