Citizens of Nashville, Tennessee are still suffering from a massive flood which occurred last weekend. As a major music city, there are also currently many musicians who are currently suffering from the damage the water has done to their instruments and and gear. It’s surprising to finally hear the media talking about this natural disaster since the nation has done everything we could for Haiti’s earthquake. However, people are finally giving what they can to those in need.

According to MTV, Taylor Swift – who we all know as the reigning princess of pop-country – has donated $500,00 toward the flood relief as well as other musicians who hold the city near their hearts. People reports that these musicians include Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert, and Martina McBride.

However, musicians who you might not have expected to be as involved with Nashville’s scene are also raising the awareness for the flood relief. Popstar Ke$ha may sing about peeing in Dom Pérignon bottles but she actually has a lot of history with the city as her mom used to write for legend Johnny Cash. She has revealed to the New York Times, “I have so many memories of Music Row and downtown and the honky-tonks, and it really holds a really special place in my heart.” She is going one step further on her own by announcing the fact that she will be holding her own benefit concert for the flood relief on June 16 at Nashville’s Limelight.

Another musician whose music reaches out further than country is Jack White of The White Stripes. According to the Associated Press, White’s store downtown,  Third Man Records, will be giving all their profits from Saturday toward the relief. He and his employees will also be involved with the Hands on Nashville program as they help clean the city up.

Although country singer Vince Gill has already taken part in his own television broadcast with his wife, Amy Grant, and others such as Alison Krauss and Keith Urban, there will be another national television broadcast happening on the Great American Channel (GCA) called “Music City Keep On Playin’: A Benefit For Flood Relief. It will air on May 16. If you’re in the area and wish to go or you’d like to donate, you can go here.

What do you think of these musicians helping out in regards to Nashville’s flood relief?
