Bono Undergoes Emergency Back Surgery In Munich

Because the weight of the world can get awfully heavy sometimes, not to mention the ego, all of the opaque wraparound shades, and the guilt of releasing every post And All That You Can’t Leave Behind album (comments wall, I don’t care what you say, those albums are terrible), Billboard reports that U2’s Bono underwent emergency back surgery in Munich today.
According to Bono’s spokesperson:
“Bono has today undergone emergency back surgery for an injury sustained during tour preparation training. He was admitted to a specialist neuro surgery unit in a Munich hospital. Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate. Once his condition has been assessed further, a statement will be made regarding the impact on forthcoming tour dates.”
Bono had been preparing with the rest of U2 for North American jaunt of the “360 Degree” world tour. The first U.S. date was scheduled to be June 3 in Salt Lake City.
No word yet on whether or not this injury or subsequent surgery will affect the tour, but one thing is for certain – Bono will once again stand upon the stage and remind you of the power and promise of rock and roll, and then do something really grandstanding and presumptuous and ruin the whole moment for you. Uno, dos, tres, catorce!
