Radar Brothers: Silver Lake Jubilee Photos and Review
By Seraphina L.
The Radar Brothers had us settle into the evening for Sunday’s Silver Lake Jubilee with their gorgeous arrangements that fit in so well with so many of their fellow current label mates on Merge Records. However, the Radar Brothers have been putting in their time since 1996 with their debut album all the way up to their most current album, Auditorium, which was released in 2008.
With a new album expected to come out in 2010, we were lucky enough to hear a well-rounded set of songs – some we were familiar with and some that were new to us.
With Jim Putnam singing those butter-smooth melodies, their set definitely set a tone for an almost-summer night (it was getting chilly again) and they gathered a good-sized and well-deserved crowd prior to Foreign Born. The audience may have been attempting to pick out how many band members have changed since the last time they’ve seen the band, but even with lineup changes The Radar Brothers are known to consistently put out great albums one after another. Their performance on the Santa Monica only solidified their strength as a band with incredibly longevity. It was definitely a bonus for many people who attended the brand new street festival, to say the least.
