Arcade Fire’s Third Album Gets A Name, Album Cover And Release Date
By Travis Woods
There’s been a flurry of Arcade Fire news over the past 24 hours – not only were two new tunes released yesterday (the swaggering sting of “The Suburbs” and the jaunty “Month of May”), but today the band’s highly anticipated third album was given a name, an album cover, and a release date.
According to Spin, The Suburbs will be released on August 3rd, was recorded in New York and Montreal, and produced by the band and Markus Dravs. The disc will be preceded by a 12” single featuring the songs noted above, and the album itself will be released in a multitude of ways to ensure that you won’t download it illegally, as well as pay far too much, including CD format, a digital download, and a “$44.99 package that includes double 12″ vinyl, a digital version, and a signed, limited edition poster.”
While the band lets the hype and buzz do the talking for them, they did post a message on their website under the name “Arkady Fireovitch”:
“We’re pretty much done with our new album… The homestretch! We’re very excited.”
You can catch the band’s first American live gig of the year on August 8th at Lollapalooza, and in the meantime, those new tracks are now available for download at arcadefire.com.
