Ellen DeGeneres Starts Record Label, Signs First ArtistBy Laura Aguirre
Ellen DeGeneres is just about our favorite person on television. With her many jokes and entertaining dancing numbers, DeGeneres gets away with anything and everything. Which brings me to my next order of business, the newest member of the American Idol judging panel is starting a record label (gasp). It turns out, she’s pretty legit in the music industry (so shame on you for questioning her position on American Idol). Oh but the surprise doesn’t end. Not until the fat lady sings, or rather yet, the 12-year-old boy who wowed everyone with his retention of Lady Gaga‘s “Paparazzi.”
That’s right, her first client is Greyson Chance. Move over Justin Bieber because Chance has four-years on you, and he has a charismatic woman to help him along the way!
Here’s what DeGeneres has to say on the matter:
“Greyson…inspired me to start a record label called eleveneleven. [Greyson] is my first artist, and we are making a record together.”
The talk show host plans to sign other artists she discovers through her show. As far as Greyson’s future, it’s looking pretty sparkly. DeGeneres has her connections and she is using them to turn this pre-teen into a larger-than-life star. With Madonna‘s manager, Guy Oseary, and Lady Gaga’s manager, Troy Carter, as co-managers, there’s a chance this kid will be more famous than “beibz” in no time.
