Hanson Releases New Record Into The World; World Says, ‘Really? Hanson?’
By Travis Woods
Much like the Flat Earth Society, Hanson is still hanging in there, despite the fact that they are, well, Hanson, and that the round earth has roundly (get it? Round!) rejected them several times over for the horrors they released upon us all mid-nineties. Despite all of that, today marks the release of their eighth record, the pop-soul hybrid Shout it Out. The disc was released on the band’s own 3CG Records
Note: I’m not sure if was the “eighth record” part, or the fact that I wrote the words “soul” and “Hanson” in the same paragraph, but I’ve just been asked to put a warning label on this news piece: “May cause aneurysms.”
The band will be featured on the also-incredibly-excellent Lopez Tonight (again, aneurysms, warning) before hitting The Today Show as well as the road as they plan to tour all summer long in an effort to boost sales of their self-released new disc as well as play The Song That Will Not Be Named. You know the one. I won’t type it out, if only because I’m tired of writing aneurysm warnings (and beating jokes like a dead horse).
What do you think of Hanson releasing a new record?
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:03PM
It's a really good album. You might know that too, if you had actually listened to it before writing about it.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:04PM
YOU FUCKING IDIOTS!
HANSON IS THE BEST AND MOST UNDERATED BAND OF ALL TIMES! Their music is like FREAKIN' POETRY and good for all ages.
IGNORANT BASTARDS!
WALMART is already SOLD OUT of their CD's in most places in AMERICA! They've never GONE AWAY! …they've been around for almost 14 years now and their audience is HUGE!
DO YOUR FREAKING RESEARCH Before writing this kind of bullshit…and GET READY TO TAKE THE HEAT!
Ya'll just messed with the WRONG CROWD!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:15PM
i wonder of people will ever get over mmmbop?! and i really doubt that you have even listened to the new record. fyi, it's their fifth studio album. spreading this hate for spreading the hate's sake is simply ridiculous. get a life!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:23PM
Still can't understand how ignorant media takes over like this!
I wonder what would happen if the people who are more than happy to try and TRASH Hanson…would actually do their research and realize that Hanson has always been around and have done more for the world than any other artist or band.
They are not only a great band, but great artists, great people and do a LOT of good to the world!
Quit bashing them and go ahead and take a listen to their albums and check out their progress musically through the years…THEN, look at what they've done for Africa and 3rd world countries…and then…notice how great of people these men are and how amazing they are to their fans…and then TELL ME HOW MANY BANDS actually do all that and are on the LEAST concerned about who buys their albums?
NOT ONE!
And this is coming from a daughter of a promoter…who's brought bands to play all over the world already. Take it from me!
Hanson is just AMAZING!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 7:24PM
I did listen to a press stream of the new album.
And Wal-Mart also sells out of those wall-mounted fish that sing "Achy Breaky Heart."
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:32PM
Thanks God that YOU AREN'T THE WORLD! This album is amazing in all ways!. You should listen it first without any of your old prejudices… anyway Hanson don't need your "great" reviews. If you don't like it, why you spent your time doing this.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:32PM
YOU GUYS ARE DUMBASSES. HANSON NEW ALBUM IS THE SHIT. OF COURSE AN IGNORANT IDIOT LIKE YOU WOULDN'T KNOW GOOD MUSIC IF IT BIT YA IN THE ASS. THE FANSONS OUT THERE KNOW WHAT THE GROUP THEMSELVES ARE LIKE AND THAT THEIR MUSIC IS GREAT. THEY'VE GOT THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF FANS WHO LOVE THEIR MUSIC AND AFTER ALMOST 14 YRS THEY STILL HAVE FANS FROM BACK IN 97 WHICH IS NOT WHAT MOST BANDS CAN SAY. MOST BANDS FROM THAT TIME HAVE DISAPPEARED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH BUT NOT HANSON. THEY ARE STILL AROUND AND STILL MAKING DAMN GOOD MUSIC. I JUST FEEL SORRY FOR YOU.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:33PM
GUESS WHAT….MOST BANDS AND ARTISTS IN THE WORLD ARE THE SAME…another example? As much as I HATE Shakira…I know how SHE STARTED! And it is NOT doing what she is doing today…she actually HAD good music ONCE! believe it or NOT!
Now back to what MATTERS…which is HANSON!
They are amazing…and their career is SOLID and great!
AND THEY ARE BANKING IN…while you're sitting there making ridiculous comments because you probably have not ONE OUNCE of their talent and fame…and adoring crowd!
YOU ARE JUST ANOTHER JEALOUS…BITTER…..ignorant fool.
I pitty you for not praising GOOD MUSIC …fit for all ages.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:34PM
PRESS STREAM…WOW! ….bet you NEVER EVER EVEN ATTENDED their concerts to actually give yourself the right to make a comment.
Go listen to them LIVE! …interact with their crowd… your mouth will be shut FOREVER!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:37PM
you stupid dumbass. they NEVER went away. ya'll were just too closed minded to hear the awesomeness that is hanson. they have done for the music industry and their fans MORE then any other band EVER!!!. their music is something that can heal. they write from the heart. can you name another band who's fan base is about to kick the worlds ass this summer??? THIS ISN'T A COMEBACK! IT'S A FUCKING REVIVAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:40PM
Lol at least Hanson grew up. Apparently you never did.
A bad review is fine. To not like Hanson is also fine. But to question the credibility of a band that has stood up against today's commercial music business, that have chosen to stay true to themselves, their music and their fans by chosing the harder, independent route over the comfortable commercial one… it's just wrong.
Yeah, they wrote a song about a madeup word when the oldest of them was barely a preteen. Did you ever listen to the rest of the lyrics of that song, keeping in mind that they were KIDS when they wrote it? Yeah they had success backed by a commercial record company for their first two albums, but as they grew up they actually realised how fake the industry is and broke away from it. I wish more artists would have the guts to do that.
Did you secretly find that you liked the album or something and is that why the article doesn't even mention that you listened to it at all? Sure, it's hardly their deepest record but I kinda find it hard to believe that you felt so neutral about it that you neither liked or disliked it and instead decided to just slate the band based on who they were 13 years ago instead of who they are today…
If you are going to hate on them, seriously, at least be original, do a bit of research, and criticise their CURRENT material instead of Mmmbop. You did say you were "tired of beating jokes like a dead horse" after all.
And yeah, I like the album. I'm always excited to see a new release from these guys. I won't claim that they are the best band ever because there are too many greats out there that I don't want to compare them to but they have a passion and love for what I do that I enjoy and wish all artists had!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:42PM
Wow you morons!! You are fucking idiots for writing this. Walmart has ALREADY sold their new cd "Shout It Out" So go FUCK YOURSELF YOU FUCKING IDIOTS!!!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:43PM
Maria is right. It is painfully obvious that the person who wrote this article turned on the cd, listened to about 2 seconds of it, and shut it off before any of their judgmental peers could figure out who it was. When people stop caring about going along with "everyone else" and actually form their OWN (educated) opinion this world will be a better place.
Ignorant bastards is right.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:45PM
If you listened to it, why did you write an article about Mmmbop instead of the actual album?
I frankly don't care if you liked Hanson 13 years ago. I'd rather know what you thought about their current album. Did you actually like it and are afraid to admit it or something?
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:47PM
I find it funny that this is supposed to be a place where we can talk about what we think about the album release and express our opinion…after all it's powered by "intensedebate" AND YET…most of our comments don't get APPROVED by the website moderators because …they know we're speaking the truth! __AND they are just afraid to take the heat after posting stupid unfounded articles about GREAT BANDS!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:49PM
I think it's great that they are still around and creating great music. if people only gave it a chance, they might have a change of heart. if you still don't like the new stuff, fine. but dont bash it without knowing what it sounds like or what its about
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:50PM
Wow. You are lame. Seriously? Hanson has to be one of the greatest bands out there. They are an amazing band, and they are amazing to their fans. A lot of bands I know dont even do HALF the shit hanson does for their fans. They have a lot of heart and talent and it definitely shows up in their music. I dont understand why people still are basing them on how they were when they started out. Each time they put out a new album, its even better than the one before. So before you judge, a band actually take time to listen to the music, before you start fucking bashing them.
& just because you made this article, just be waiting for some bashing yourself from all then hanson fans.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:53PM
and if you did listen to the album, then this is the worst review article ever written. not trying to attack you, but you don't really say anything about the music and just instead dwell on the 90s (which had a lot of bad music) and the fact that you cant swallow ur pride and say that they are pretty good musicans. its unforunate that the music biz is all about justin beiber and miley cyrus
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:54PM

So, you may want to tell why you thought the album was horrible, instead of just making yourself sound like an incompetent asshole. also, "the song that will not be named" , was ya know, released 13 years ago. It was also one of the best selling songs of the 90's. What were you doing 13 years ago? Probably picking your nose and doing nothing spectacular, not being nominated for Grammy's like the Hanson brothers. Like I said, maybe if you wrote some actual information about this article and not just ramble on about your feelings it wouldn't piss people off so much. To be quite honest I was never a fan of this band until they started getting a bunch of press about the new album and my girlfriend made me check it out. But the Hanson fans are intense so get ready for a lot of harrassment.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:57PM
Is this supposed to be an album review, or am I just supposed to be shocked that Hanson is releasing a new album? If it's for shock value, this band has been around for a really long time, and they haven't ever disappeared… so… not that shocking. If it's an album review, it's pretty much the worst one I've ever read. If you've ever listened to any Hanson song besides Mmmbop, it wouldn't give you an aneurysm to type "soul" and "Hanson" in the same paragraph. How did you get this job, Travis Woods?
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 12:58PM
Oh so now you're scared to approve comments that don't agree with your biased uneducated opinion? Awww poor baby.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:00PM
There are countless bands out there like Hanson. Real bands stay around and play even if they don't have all the fame anymore. I wish people would get over MMMBop, if their fans can move beyond that one song and embrace all the other music they've made then so can others.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:00PM
obviously you have no idea what this band means to their fans, and what THEY have been through to get where they are today. you can't really say they have talent (or imply it) because that simply isnt true. they write all the music, the lyrics, prodicing, marketing, EVERYTHING that is included in making a record. i dont think the thousands of fans could be that misguided in liking and adoring hanson, because they are a true talent, as well as amazing human beings. maybe you should do so more research, like watching their "strong enough to break" documentary, and the podcasts about "the walk" on itunes. maybe then you could at least respect them, and their fans. you can judge them, or us, because it appears as if you have no idea what you are actually talking. yes, i will admit "mmmbop" was a redundant piece of pop, but do you have any idea what that song is really about? and how young they were when they wrote it?
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:01PM
it's about living in the moment and staying true to yourself. what other band had a week long playing of all of their records? what other band went to africa and decided to use their music and popularity to save kids lives? what other band constantly sees their fans as extended family, and continues to put music out there? sure? you could say bono already did the africa thing and brad and angelina has got the kids covered, but its just not the same. hanson started as a three young kids from OK, and they have grown into men with pure talent and compassion, and i think you should commend them for that, not put them down just because you maybe dont like the "the song that must not be named". listen to music AFTER that song, listen to thelyrics, listen to the message, and if you dont understand then, it's your loss. but maybe the you can say it in earnest, not just based on a stigma that was pout there 13 yeras ago.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:01PM
I think that it's about damn time that Hanson released this record. It's been four years since there has been a legitimate album release…and you would know that if you weren't so freaking ignorant. (It has been that long because Hanson has been touring relentlessly for the past three years.) This album doesn't surprise anyone who actually ever gave Hanson a chance. Even "The song that must not be named" has a purpose. (Holding on to the ones who really care, because things in life are futile.) If Hanson causes brain aneurysms, then I have thousands. This record is the best record released since Stephen Kellogg's "The Bear," and you would realize who that is if you weren't completely sheltered, stuck behind your desk listening to Ke$ha and Lady Gaga!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:01PM
I love the fact that they're releasing a new album! I've been looking forward to it for a long time and I know a lot of people have. How about listening to some of their new music before criticising them like you just did?
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:01PM
While I can understand Chickypoo's passion for a most beloved band I have to say that they are going about this the wrong way. Let us not descend into madness simply because someone doesn't like the new album. We need to honor their opinion and not force ours down their throat. I do question, however if, Travis, you are truly listening to the album and critiquing it by itself, or if you are also a bit biased simply because it's Hanson and are continually judging them for something they wrote when they were 16, 14, and 12. The brothers have matured and with them their sound has matured. I am perfectly fine accepting your view on the album, if you are really judging it by itself and not based out of preconceived notions of the little boy band from the 90's.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:02PM
I find it funny that BEFORE TODAY….and BEFORE HANSON…I never even KNEW this stupid website existed…
SO YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY BE THANKFUL they are getting all this TRAFFIC TODAY!
Otherwise your website…is literally crap!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:08PM
You're a dumbass pussy who can't take any criticism, and like everyone else said, doesn't do their research before writing such nonsense. Go kill yourself
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:12PM
you are the biggest fucking idiot there is! you and everyone else needs to get over the MMMbop days and give them a chance. their music is a hell of alot better than a lot of other music out there today. and they have some of the most loyal fans out there! have you even listened to the cd? or been to a concert? get over yourself. what you write is shit.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:15PM
Wow, what a stupid dumbass
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:16PM
gee, girl, you really need to some humour courses! You are BORING!!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:18PM
SCUSE ME DOUCHE BAG! As a 13 year FANSON aka HARDCORE FUKKIN HANSON FAN, I have to say you have NO idea what good music is. Most people I know who don't like Hanson "only" listen to metal because its what their 'friends' tell them is cool. Or rap because its whats 'in'. I bet you do the shake it dance to the horrible Lady Gaga every day. Anyone who appreciates good music with heart will love this album. Hell, anyone who loves good music should go back through their catalog and buy all of the records and listen to their progression as artists and human beings. Hanson has a fan base consisting of many cultures, genders, countries, and walks of life. They reach people and heal hearts and souls. I can't speak for everyone else, but in the darkest of times they come through for me. It seems like every time something super tragic happens in my life Hanson comes out with a new album that lifts me up and speaks everything I feel. They spoil their fans to no end with countless live stream events, even when they're not supposed to and could actually receive legal repercussions for it. They love us as we love them. We are a FAMILY. You attack them, you get ALL OF US!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:25PM
5th album, actually.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:25PM
You are entitled to your own opinion but Hanson is one of the best bands out there. They don't use Auto-tune or lipsync like most of the other bands out there plus they write, produce, and compose all of their own material! and for not being Popular Hanson can still sell out most of the concerts on tour so maybe you should do a little more research before you put your foot in your mouth again
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:26PM
I was 15 going on 16 when I first heard Hanson. At that point in my life I had mainly listened to country. When I heard them though, something just clicked. I loved it. I was a true blue "Fanson" with posters everywhere and taped every show they were on. As the years went by, the posters disappeared, but I have always stayed a loyal Hanson fan (as my friends can tell you because they've really dished it out at me). It is more than just about the music for me. It's a connection. They genuinely care about their fans and listen to what we want. They give off a familiar feeling. It's like they were the "boys next door" that I grew up with. I think their music is great and there isn't a song I don't like. I think this new album really showcases who they are and what has influenced them the most (50's/60's music). They are talented musicians and seemingly great spirits. When the critics stop critiquing and the radio stations quit playing, Hanson's true fans will always be with them. They know this and that's what matters. They aren't trying to prove anyone right/wrong/or otherwise. They are just doing what they love.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:28PM
So, when you say "the horrors they released upon us ALL mid-nineties" you meant the ONLY studio album they released in the mid-nineties? They have five studio albums, only one released in the mid-nineties (May 1997), so I think you mean mid-1997-1998.
You got the info right about the overall number of albums, their new label, the tour, the shows they'll be attending…but what's with all the self-justification? Ain't you old enough to write about the music you don't like without having to justify yourself? And the Earth joke…Really? Travis?
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:30PM
Id like to know what kind of music you listen to.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:31PM
I can't even be offended really. I've never even heard of this website until today and what do I care what a no name website's opinion is on an album they've never even bothered to listen to. You only wrote this because it's cool to not like Hanson. Get over yourself.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:36PM
Wait…. what? It's 1997?! I thought it was 2010, but apparently I was wrong since you just reviewed a song released in 1997 instead of an album released in 2010. Not that you can even call this a review… more like a poor excuse at throwing unoriginal insults at a band who doesn't deserve it.
Travis, I'd really like to know what you really thought about the actual album.
And try watching the Strong Enough to Break Documentary, and then feel free to tell me they are not credible musicians, even though I might think you are blind if you do…
Seriously, judging by your previous articles, you seem as unappreciative as most of us about the way today's music business is going. So why are you slating a band that has put so much effort into distancing themselves from all that?
And if it was meant as some kind of joke… then, well, maybe try to think of something original to say next time instead of rehashing something that stopped being even mildly amusing years and years ago.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:38PM
Regardless of your opinion of MMMBop (yes, MMMBop…. have you had your aneurysm yet or should I write it again?) it's time to grow up. It's been 13 years since they released their debut album, "Middle Of Nowhere". And even back in '97, as young as they were, they made music that millions and millions of people connected with. They played sold out tours world wide; had album sales that were through the roof; and gained massive amounts of airtime on the radio. What were you doing when you were 11?
In the last 13 years, these 3 boys from Tulsa have grown and matured into a band more than worthy of being called true musicians (an adjective that I find myself able to use less and less in these days of Miley Cyrus and Justin Beiber… though based on your musical taste, those are probably the types of 'artists' you can intellectually relate to). Not only have they put out multiple albums, they've also basically been touring non-stop for the past few years. And do you know why they keep touring? Because people want to see them; people will pay money to spend 2 incredible hours sharing in the music of these 3 amazing guys; people will wait 4 or even 8 hours in line before the show.
Fansons are some of the most loyal and enthusiastic people you will ever meet, and it's because we have a band that's passionate about music for music's sake. And as if they weren't already busy enough with touring, recording, and raising their families, they're incredibly philanthropic. When's the last time you made a difference in the lives of people almost a world away? Their partnership with TOMS has helped to provide hundreds of children in Africa with desperately needed footwear. Their city Walks have raise incredible awareness of, one, how lucky we are to have all that we do in this country and, two, that each one of us has a duty as a member of the human race to reach out and aide the less fortunate in any way possible.
So I encourage you to put the CD back in and press play. Turn the volume up and for one hour out of your day, get to know Hanson; the band of 3 brothers who write, play, and record their own music; who refuse to compromise or sell-out; who have accomplished more in the past 13 years than most people could in two lifetimes. There's no guarantee you're going to love it, but there's also nothing saying that you won't. And maybe that's what you're afraid of. Having to live with yourself knowing that maybe, just maybe, 'That MMMBop Band' really isn't that bad after all.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:38PM
I thoroughly enjoyed the new album and encourage everyone to give it a shot. You may be pleasantly surprised.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:41PM
Hey Travis- Someday, when you try to find a job where people actually care what you write about, I don't recommend using this piece. Not the greatest. Or maybe it is… in which case I feel really bad for you.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:51PM
Jayme….you couldn't have said it better…We are a FAMILY! You Attack them, you get ALL OF US! I can't believe this guy's misguided opinion on Hanson is even up for reading! It's detrimental! And I have great knowledge of good music, I've studied music for 11 years in a conservatory I've seen the greatest pieces, played & sang them & still Hanson musically is one of the greatest BANDS on Earth specially given their age and how young they are.You don't ever hear about them out in the nightclubs doing stupid crap and getting arrested, all you hear about is their music, their love for their family, privacy, love for their fans & how they are kind to others all over the world through their projects to support poverty.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:53PM
Quite honestly if BAD PRESS is what you wanted to get some PITTY TRAFFIC for your crappy website…well you've got it.
BUT …ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS…because soon enough…your little website will crawl right back to the whole it just came from (thanks to Hanson!) and…nobody will even remember what this is or who YOU ARE.
And in another 10 years, when Hanson is releasing their 15th album….you and your poorly talented crew…will be sitting at home with a beer belly smelling like BEEF AND CHEESE counting the pennies to afford the rent !
LOL
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:53PM
Or even if you don't want to "Listen" to the music, You could at least READ THE LYRICS! I agree 100% with Griff
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 1:59PM
This is literally the most idiotic article I've ever read. Hanson is one of the few TRULY talented acts around these days who sing, play instruments, AND write all of their own music. The sheer fact that you were unaware that Hanson has been continuously putting out amazing albums and touring the world playing sold out shows just proves that you are entirely too ignorant to be commenting on anything in the music industry.
I seriously believe that if you had listened to the album without knowing who the artist was, you would have enjoyed it. The album is being critically acclaimed across the board, so your opinion carries little weight.
Shout It Out is a fabulous, fun album and anyone who would like to give Hanson another shot should pick it up.
PS- It's currently #5 on the iTunes rock chart, and it was only released today. So there.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 2:10PM
Your artial is the one giving everyone anyerisms bud, not Hanson. In terms of writing, your artical sucks. Maybe if you had valid points but you couldn’t even come up with one about their current music. This artical was based entirely on ur misconeptions.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 2:27PM
YOU SIR A DUMBASS!!!! YOU WOULDN'T NO GOOD MUSIC IF IT BIT U IN THE ASS!!!!!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 2:29PM
Travis, it's a shame your too much of a looser to give the new album a chance… if you'd listen to it without your Pre-Judgements, you'd prolly like it…
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 2:33PM
M'kay, it's called MmmBop.. Say it with me now you self-centered, drooling out the side of your mouth, uneducated douche bag… MmmBop! I must ask, was your head up your ass when you listened to their new album? Or any of their music for that matter. Because, honestly, that's the only good excuse I can come up with after reading your lame review. Exactly how did you get this job Travis? Obviously it wasn't for your knowledge of great music. Let me tell you now, you little weenie, Hanson fans are hard core. And like an electrical current, news of your retarded self will spread. They will come from far and wide to rip you a new ass hole for writing such ridiculous babble without having done an ounce of research beforehand. I hope your prepared for the backlash. It may be in your better interests to apologize for your stupidity as soon as possible. Not that it will really save you. We fans don't give a crap if you like Hanson or not. It won't break them. Your pitiful excuse for an opinion isn't worth the pile of shit I flushed this morning. However, I and likely every one of the thousands of dedicated and loyal fans will agree… IT PISSES US OFF WHEN IGNORANT CLOSE-MINDED LOSERS LIKE YOURSELF WITH ABSOLUTELY ZERO TASTE FOR GOOD MUSIC OR RESPECT FOR AN EXTREMELY TALENTED BAND THINK THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY (or in this case, write) A BUNCH OF COMPLETELY UNFOUNDED POORLY RESEARCHED BULLSHIT BASED ON AN IMMATURE BIASED OPINION. Grow up Travis and join us in 2010. Are you living in the mid-90's because that was the last time you were considered cool? Hanson has been around for almost 14 years will a solid following, fantastic sales and has worked with some great people you probably can't even name. They do not, nor have they ever needed to "boost sales". I'm pretty sure the SOLD OUT status in stores for their new album as well as SOLD OUT shows is proof of that. Have you, perchance, even seen any of the other reviews of the new music? Because you really look like an idiot right now. Perhaps an aneurysm would do you some good. Retard… *rolls eyes*
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 2:34PM
It's called FREEDOM OF SPEECH people! Comment away and express your love, passion, anger, whatever it is you guys feel.THAT is what makes press not a pittiful opinion like this one.
so to all fansons out there with passion….
SHOUT IT OUT and scream your little hearts OUT if you think this is wrong and unfair…however you choose to do it. And some people need to quit being so EMBARRASSED specially when they claim to be a"fan of a fan" What kind of crap is that? LOL Are you even a HANSON fan at all? Or you're just too good to be like the rest of us who don't give a CRAP what the world is saying and have NO FEAR to lash out at ANYONE who is unfairly trashing Hanson? It's not about average age and maturity, it's about PASSION, not obssession. Most of us have real well stablished lives I must say so, that is no argument to claim embarrassment and try to stand out being the PERFECT FAN. There is no such thing. Specially "fan of fans!"
Whatever it is…you should pick sides I guess cause, playing cool with all and trying to be above the rest is NOT making you look any better! Sorry lol

Look, I'm not gonna write a comment that is full of curses and caps in an effort to flame you and your opinion. You're entitled to it. But if you would like to consider yourself a serious journalist, I think you should do a bit more research than simply listening to a press release. Hanson's sound may not be your style, but you should still be objective enough to realize that this band has come a long, long way from the long-haired teenagers who sang "That Song That Must Not Be Named".
These men are doing something wonderful in a scene that has become so ridiculously cookie-cutter: they are making music that THEY love and that their fans love, instead of simply releasing two singles on a 15 track CD that is surrounded by filler music.
I suggest taking the time to watch their documentary called "Strong Enough To Break" which documents their struggle to break free of their oppressive music label to form their own music label. Good luck!

i think i honestly dont even need to reply to this article or other comments because you have honestly taken the words right out of my mouth!! just this morning i converted my 12yr old cousin to the HANSON side and cant be more proud of my self!! so to all the RETARDS that aint down with HANSON go pack and bag and move some where else….they are here to stay!!!

How entertaining is it that the only credible and redeeming factor about this article are the REVIEWS. Honestly…the only actual information about the new album, which this is supposedly an article about, is the fact that it's by Hanson.
Which conveniently seems to be the only reasoning you have for the blind negativity you spout throughout this article.
There's no mention of ANYTHING about the album, any of it's songs – you know, any actual information or any hint that you took a good listen to the album or did ANY research.
This is a blindly written, non-researched, excuse for an article that DOESN'T EVEN HAVE AN OPINION.
There's not even any mention of whether or not you liked the album.
Honestly…whoever let you actually publish this waste of internet space needs to rethink their editing skills as well. This article is complete nonsense.
And the HORRORS they released?
1.) Yes, MMMBop was a little on the silly side of music…but it was written by 3 preteens/teens…AND IT WAS A HUGE HIT. Like it or not, whether it's become a huge joke to the world or not, there's scarcely a person who was alive when it came out who doesn't know how Mmmbop goes.
2.) Name me another 90's Hanson song. That you didn't just look up online coz YOU DONT KNOW ANY OTHERS. You can't call a bunch of songs you've probably never heard in your whole life HORRORS just because one song became a joke. That's ridiculous.
Maybe when you give the album a real listen and have any actual POINTS to make about the album, you can write a real article – though after reading that I'd highly advise that you reconsider a career in journalism and just quit while you're behind. The last thing the world needs is another uninformed writer spouting out bullshit.
The only thing anyone can learn from this article? How to write an uninformed, poorly researched set of paragraphs and sound like a pretentious, ignorant ass.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:48PM
Dude you really need to learn not to piss off Hanson fans by writing that bullshit you just messed with the WRONG people!! And FYI Hanson has never gone away I for one have been a fan since day one and will be a fan till the day I die! Get a clue listen to the new album. If you don't have anything good to say then SHUT THE HELL UP!!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:10PM
you don't see the genius behind mmmbop lyrics (ages: 16, 14, 11 at the time)? And their music? oh man…too bad you write music reviews
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:41PM
not a huge hanson fan, but even I can understand the genius behind their work. And as for mmmbop, that’s got some genius lyrics man (especially for a band that at the time had members of 16, 14, 11!). Listen to it, listen to the message, can’t you see? if you don’t see it, hm….
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 5:36PM
You have not even commented on the musicalities of the album, just the fact that it was Hanson that released it. What kind of reporter are you to be so unprofessional as to not even write a review of the album?? All your article states is a blatant disregard for the band and their performance dates on National television. You are stuck in your own personal cage and blinded by the past. They have matured, as quite clearly you have not. No-one has said that MMMBop, Oh My God, I said that word, what an Idiot you are, was the best song in the world. However it's where they started, and have since grown from. Tell me how many musicians these days that play their own instruments and can hold their notes when they sing live?? Not many. You need to grow up, be professional and open your mind to new things. Absolutely disgusted at your sheer laziness to even bother actually giving this a go, because you are too pig-headed to get over the fact that it is Hanson.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 5:49PM
Well Travis I'm not a Hanson fan, it's just not my kinda music, but it seems that a lot of the comments on here disagree with your article. Perhaps they are better and more successful then you thought? I understand mmbop was a song that wanted to make you bang your head against the wall, but hell they were kids then trying to make a break. So to still judge a band and block out any attempt in your mind to let them redeem themselves years later is kinda ignorant. If you are going to write a review about a band or a new album coming out you should put a little more thought into it. Seriously all you have to hold over them is mmbop? That's what you are still using as a basis to judge them? You didn't even mention anything in your article that you listened to the new album yet.
I like to get updated about bands even if I'm not a fan because I like to keep up to date with music but I rather get my updates from someone who is more informative and puts their personal feelings aside. Obviously can't get that from you.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 5:55PM
Travis my man… if you were trying to illustrate how little the world cares about Hanson, I can tell you that you have failed miserably. I'm seeing dozens of ardent admirers passionately defending their heroes .in response to the churlish slurs of one petulent youth. Out of curiosity, I checked this album out. It isn't my particular cup of tea, but it's entertaining. And any music that inspires this kind of passion can't be all bad.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 6:02PM
Ok first off you really should have done your research because then you wouldn't have wrote this crap and wouldn't look like the biggest douche….Second I've been a Hanson fan since 1997 and their music has changed a lot and their music is AMAZING! Third I know its freedom of speech or what not but you should have read into this before you write this kind of crap!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 6:17PM
So far everything everyone has written has had amazing truth to it. Now that I'm a little more calm I just want to say, Travis, you messed with the wrong people here. Us Fansons are the most loyal ppl you will meet as I'm sure you now realize. I'm glad to say I'm now Shouting It Out with the new album and I will continue to do so until the day my ashes are spread along Scotland. I will never stop loving Hanson. Their music speaks volumes to thousands of ppl. They have some of the most powerful lyrics and will continue doing so as many ppl have said cause they are no longer being run by the cookie cutter business that ppl call the music industry. These men are true to themselves for the pure fact that they truely love music and want it to be heard the way it's supposed to be heard. Once again I feel sorry for you that you don't know the awesomeness that is HANSON!!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 6:43PM
I'm trying to tell if this was written by a professional or a 12 year old boy. Honestly, drop your prejudices and actually listen to the music before you write a review.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 7:00PM
Ok you are a dumbass for saying this and Hanson is Amazing so this is your opinion but because we see hanson fans are a rare breed, funny witty and diehard we will never go down, we will never cease we will never lose the passion that drove us to hanson in the first place Rock on my fellow hanson fans rock on
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 7:13PM
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but, like previously stated, by all of us DEDICATED fans, there is no way you listened to this album. And, Hanson isn't still hanging in there. They were never hanging. THEY ARE STILL ROCKING. The only thing causing "aneurysms" is your jacked review and your childish behavior with using lines like, "The Song That Will Not Be Named". It's MMMBop. Watch out!! You could actually enjoy it if you say it. And Hanson and soul fit well in the same sentence. You should have probably thought before you typed…. are you getting the reaction you were hoping for? Its people like you that make it so frustrating, being all close- minded. Learn to just appreciate some good music. They don't have to be your favorite, but you don't have to be rude.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 9:11PM
hanson is one of the few *true* bands left in the world. real music, actually written and played by them, with passion and soul. and no, there is no "aneurysm warning" with that sentence, because that's what hanson is, passion, soul and talent. even on their first studio record, middle of nowhere, there was true emotion in each song, despite them being very young when writing that record. shout it out is hanson at their simplest and purest. they are amazingly talented musicians who don't get nearly as much credit as they are due because of mmmbop, a (still quite good once you understand what it means) song that they wrote when they were kids. KIDS!!!!!
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 9:11PM
they've had 4 albums since that one in 1997, not to mention all the unreleased songs they have written, and they are still judged by the world based upon mmmbop. eventually, i hope that the rest of the world will get their heads out of their own asses enough to realize that today's music is on a downslope, and hanson is one of the few bands who could potentially save rock and roll. not to mention all of the amazing work they did for africa, and they are so true to their fans, which is why they have the most loyal fan base of any band i've ever heard of. next time, before you write an article about a band, i suggest that you listen to more than one of their songs which is 13 years old. dumbass.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 10:39PM
pfffffffffff hahaha god forbid you approve people's comments voicing their own opinions on your biased review. jackass.
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 10:46PM
greatest thing i've read all day. bahahaha
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 10:51PM
extremely well put. =]
Wednesday, June 9, 2010 12:37AM
Wow. You know, I had some choice words for you, but it seems like my fellow Fansons have said it all.
Oh, but I will mention that my Down Syndrome brother has more fucking common sense and overall intelligence than you, or this website, apparently, since they hired your retarded ass.
So, congratulations. YOU are the definiton of ‘retard’.
Wednesday, June 9, 2010 8:24AM
So, I'm a Hanson fan. Clearly biased. I'm also not a raging loser, so I spent a lot of time being embarrassed about being a Hanson fan because of opinions like this.
Lately I've realized – their music is really good. They have grown up and time and time again have proved themselves to be a band worthy of respect. And the real raging losers are the ones who can't get over a song that a young band put out THIRTEEN YEARS AGO.
Seriously, this Hanson hate? What are you, stuck in 1997? Get over it.
Wednesday, June 9, 2010 9:18AM
LOL, thanks. =D I'm pretty pleased with it myself. hehe.
Wednesday, June 9, 2010 11:01AM
you are an idiot.. this shouldn't even be labeled as an article.. more like a dumbass who thinks they know what they are talking about garbage.. do some homework and even listen to the album as well as their last two reccords before you go and write stuff.. their music is amazing.. they are three amazing musicians, songwriters and should get the respect that they deserve. another thing.. Hanson NEVER went away.. they've been touring, doing activist work over in Africa, among other things for the last few years.. they are one of the best bands ive seen live.. they have so much energy and its just a non stop party with them. so again.. next time you feel the need to write something like this about a band, this band in particular, you don't know anything about except stuff from the 90's, i suggest you just not even bother
Wednesday, June 9, 2010 11:07AM
totally agree
Wednesday, June 9, 2010 11:56AM
Actually the "world" didn't say really, you said really. Perhaps if you had done your research you would have found out that Underneath was one of the best selling indie albums of all time, or that their new video "Thinking About Something" is approaching 2 million views on Myspace. Their music has matured and is diverse, not to mention the tremendous work they have done for charities in Africa. While you may look down your nose at some of their earlier offerings I can't help but wonder what sort of music the bands you hold near and dear would have been writing, producing, and performing at the same age as Hanson was when "Mmmbop" was released. As far as the fish goes I will have to take your word on it seeing as I have never gone looking for one.
Wednesday, June 9, 2010 8:13PM
Fail, Travis. Fail. I'm rather confused, is this supposed to be an album review? Or just a cheap shot at a band that got their start when we were all still making fun of them for having long hair and making nonsensical noises called mmmbop?
I just happened to stumble across this and while the comments amuse me, they've also got me curious. I think this post did the opposite of what it was supposed to!
Thursday, June 10, 2010 5:08AM
Are you a fan of Hanson? If so, WOOT WOOT!! If not, thanks for commenting and CHECK OUT HANSON, new and old material. You'll be pleasantly surprised. SHOUT IT OUT! =D
Thursday, June 10, 2010 7:17AM
Ha ha, I find it amusing that you posted all of these angry comments with cuss words in them, and didn't post mine which wasn't angry and which had language you could comfortably use in front of your grandmother. It's been more than 24 hours now, and you've posted a host of other comments, so I'm guessing that mine hit a bit too close to home to be posted? Further proof that the world cares a lot more about Hanson than it does about this sorry blog (just check the comments attached to this article vis a vis other articles here!) Also further proof that, in this case, the truth hurts.

Hanson only had one good album. Of course, that was Middle of Nowhere. Come on… That's there only good CD and will always be their best. Yeah, they may look better, but seriously, they don't sound any better. They sound like another band, trying to make a comeback, oh! wait! they are one of those bands. Like I said, Middle of Nowhere was their best and always will be. I was 5 years old when that came out, so, find some new music… Stop living in the past. I don't even have that album on my iPod for christ's sake.

hey brit d, you have no idea what you are talking about. their new album sounds completely different than anything they've ever put out before. and its better than MON. every albume theyve released since MON has been amazing it their own ways; you can't judge them on that one album and that one song. so watch your mouth.
Saturday, June 12, 2010 1:35PM
You are pretty much a retard and I am sure that you had a girlfriend who was a Hanson fan and you are still burned because she loved them more than you. Get Over iT!!
Hanson rocks and their new album is the best thing yet! They will take over the world and you will sunk in your stupid job. Loser!!
Sunday, June 13, 2010 6:14PM
Hanson is the most talented band in the world.
Sunday, July 18, 2010 2:15PM
hanson fans have NEVER been exposed to any better music and thats why they believe all these insane things. they seem very unstable and i think they need help. fast.
Monday, July 19, 2010 2:40PM
i think handson will be great musician someday
Friday, August 27, 2010 2:06PM
I'm digging the Hanson love on this thread. I fully agree, Hanson's been my favorite band since I was 12 and I finally stopped defending myself to people for it years and years ago. If people don't understand the awesomeness of Hanson, it's their loss. The loyal fans are the ones who matter anyway, and judging from several concerts of theirs I've been to, Ike, Taylor, and Zac know that.
