Carrie Underwood Beats Taylor Swift at CMT Music Awards
By Laura Aguirre
Taylor Swift‘s Fearless won big at the MTV VMAs and the Grammys but on June 9th, the 20-year-old singer got no love from her country brethren. Instead, Carrie Underwood was crowned the queen of the night at the CMT Music Awards, while Swift went home empty handed.
Both Underwood and Swift were nominated for Video of the Year, but it was Underwood’s “Cowboy Casanova” that beat out Swift’s “You Belong to Me.” Underwood also took home the award for Best Performance of the Year, for her rendition of “Temporary Home” on the CMT show “Invitation Only.”
For Swift’s second nomination in the Female Video of the Year category, both she and Underwood lost out to none other than Miranda Lambert’s “White Liar.” She then finished off her losing streak with her third and final nomination in the Collaborative Video of the Year category when her and Kellie Pickler’s duet “Best Days of Your Life,” lost to Blake Shelton’s “Hillbilly Bone” featuring Trace Adkins.
It seems to me that if Swift wants to win the hearts of the CMT audience she needs to start giving her songs names that have country affiliations like cowboy and hillbilly, hence the 2010 CMT winners. They made it work for them!
Do you think Underwood deserved to win? Or did the CMT people make a mistake?

carrie definitely deserverd to win. miranda lambert is also a very deserving winner. maybe taylor will finally get the hint and leave country music. 2nd awards show in a row where she was shut out. the girl can not sing. look at her singing live with stevie nicks….what a train wreck and for people to say she couldn't hear herself. does that mean that every time she sings live she can't hear herself because she always sounds awful live.
