Snoop Dogg No Longer Welcomed In The Netherlands

If there’s any rap star we associate with Amsterdam and all their green goodness smoked in “coffee shops,” it’s Snoop Dogg. However, it sounds like the Netherlands, specifically officials in The Hauge, have cut their ties with the rapper now that the border patrol have deemed him as a threat. This news was shocking to both the rapper and officials who were ready to have Snoop Dogg headline their Parkpop Festival.

As an artist who really takes advantage of the legal use of marijuana over in Amsterdam, the rapper performs there at least once a year – often smoking blunts while he’s on stage. (Once he was even joined by our other favorite pothead, Willie Nelson!) We’re not saying we condone the use of marijuana but the border patrol has canceled Snoop’s slot forcing festival organizers to find a replacement as  “(The concert was canceled) in order to preserve the free, open and friendly nature of Parkpop.”

The rapper hasn’t had the best track record ever since the UK and Australia rejected his request to enter their countries a few years earlier. However, the UK has forgiven Snoop for the actions of his entourage at Heathrow airport, so why can’t a country he’s always showed love for do the same?

Reuters reports festival organizers as very annoyed by the fact  “that the headliner is being removed from the programme 10 days before the event.” Others headlining the event include Juliette Lewis and German pop star Nena. Snoop Dogg was also scheduled to headline Amsterdam’s “Melkweg” but has obviously had to cancel that show as well.
