Lady Gaga On Her New Album: ‘I’ve Baked A Cake With A Bitter Jelly’

Lady Gaga Wears A Gun Bra On Cover Of Rolling Stone Lady Gaga On Her New Album: Ive Baked A Cake With A Bitter Jelly

Talentless singer/ Madonna-Bowie amalgam Lady Gaga announced this week that she’s completed work on her fourth album, the follow-up to The Fame and its “hey-spend-more-money-on-me-now-that-I’m-increasingly-famous-‘cause-I-wear-funny-hats” companion piece, The Fame Monster.  And, because she’s got to generate some sort of hype to move units of what is likely to be a series of beat-heavy, ProTooled club songs with heavily processed and lifeless vocals singing vaguely ‘edgy’ lyrics about forward-thinking sexuality and empowerment that you only have to pay $15 for, the Gags told Rolling Stone that she will unveil the album’s title at a massive event on New Year’s Eve.  The title.  A party to release the title.  An extravaganza to announce an album title.  I just want to make sure you read that correctly.

Moving on, Gaga went on to speak of how angry political the new record will be (though it’s tough to beat “I wanna take a ride on your disco stick” for biting, harrowing social commentary:

“Why are we still talking about ‘Don’t ask, don’t tell?’ It’s like, what fucking year is it? It makes me crazy! And I have been for three years baking cakes – and now I’m going to bake a cake that has a bitter jelly. The message of the new music is now more bitter than it was before. Because the sweeter the cake, the more bitter the jelly can be.”

Yeah, like, c’mon guys!  We can listen to Gaga—despite making clichéd dance music, she wears odd clothes, so she’s an artist, right? (Comments wall, I brace myself for thee)

What do you think of Lady Gaga’s angry new album?

I am absolutely impatiently awaiting the arrival of Gaga's new album! Does it suck I have to wait until New Year's Eve just to hear the title? Yes, it does. Is it crazy to throw a party just to unveil an album title? Yes, it is. But that, my friend, is Gaga. It's glam. I'm sorry you don't enjoy her or get what she is, but as her sales records show, many of us little monsters do. So lay off Gaga, and I won't mock whatever kind of crappy, talentless music you happen to enjoy. :p

Oh no, Gaga now moves on from copying Madonna's Blonde Ambition period, to Erotica, to release a remake of American Life? Surely Marilyn Manson is waiting in a pop culture tomb for this tragic marketing mistress to join him?

i'm bitter. i'm bitter that gaga is still around and not already tossed into the trash heap of one-note pop artists who rode a brief wave of mediocrity using the playbook passed down by those artists who already did it – much better and more entertaining.

I have seen Gaga live and she's incredible, sorry, pop culture trash? I think not, her songs are fun, danceable and thoroughly enjoyable. She's a big fuck you to all the frat boy, beer swillers out there. An fyi, she's leagues ahead of Madonna in terms of talent. She doesn't merely change a note in a song and claim writers credits, she actually writes the songs. BITCHES!
